The issue of hazardous smoke and toxic gases released from epoxy resins (EP), which often causes casualties in real fires, has limited its application. Therefore, we have developed a novel flame retardant based on a bimetallic-doped phytate-melamine (BPM) structure with Zn and Fe ions incorporated into the polymer matrix using a straightforward solution-based synthetic method. The combustion performance of the composite was evaluated using a cone calorimeter test, which showed that the peak heat release, total heat release, and total smoke production were reduced by 50%, 31.

Urea-formaldehyde (UF) resin and guanidinium azole (GZ)-phytate (PA)-copper hydroxide (Cu(OH)) flame-retardant resin coating blends were prepared using urea, formaldehyde, 3,5-diamino-1,2,4-triazole (GZ), phytanic acid (PA), and copper hydroxide (Cu(OH)). Employing dioctyl phthalate as the plasticizer and tannic acid as the curing agent, a three-stage reaction was performed to obtain the desired UF-GZ/PA/Cu as a bio-based flame retardant.

In this work, we systematically study the basic properties of 2D BiSeO through first-principles calculations, focusing on the spin-orbit coupling (SOC) effect and layer-dependent behaviors. The results show that SOC can adjust the bandgap of bulk/2D BiSeO from direct to indirect, with the bandgap decreasing upon increasing the thickness due to quantum confinement.

The results showed that 25 key metabolites were identified to distinguish the flavor attributes between the two samples. Leuconostoc was identified as the dominant microbiota in low-salt CHCP, while Pantoea prevailed in the high-salt CHCP.

Food processing unavoidably introduces various risky ingredients that threaten food safety. N-Nitrosamines (NAs) constitute a class of food contaminants, which are considered carcinogenic to humans. According to the compiled information, pretreatment methods based on solid-phase extraction (SPE) were widely used before the determination of volatile NAs in foods.

Gallic acid (GA) has emerged as a potential alternative to reduce nitrite usage and control BAs. This study explored how GA inhibits BAs and nitrosamines accumulation in reduced-nitrite CFSs.

Herein, we present a DNAzyme-activated CRISPR assay (termed DzCas12T) for sensitive and one-pot detection of lead contamination. Using an extension-bridged strategy eliminates the need for separation to couple the DNAzyme recognition and CRISPR reporting processes.

A total of 129 volatiles and 34 aroma compounds were identified by GC × GC-MS and GC-O-MS, among which 29 and 20 volatiles were identified as significant difference compounds and aroma-active compounds, respectively. Inoculation with the two indigenous strains could effectively relieve the undesired acidic and irritative flavor brought by acetic acid and some aldehydes in salt-reduction samples.

Pressure engineering has attracted growing interest in the understanding of structural changes and structure-property relations of layered materials. In this study, we investigated the effect of pressure on the crystal structure of MnSn.high-pressure x-ray diffraction experiments revealed that MnSn maintained hexagonal lattice symmetry within the pressure range of ambient to 50.

So far, reported examples are mostly three-dimensional bulk materials, either compounds with strong ionic bonds or layered materials with van der Waals interlayer gaps. Here, we report the first example in two-dimensional elemental materials-the class of group-Va monolayers.

However, the established principles of vapor-phase epitaxy cannot be directly applied to solution epitaxy, as the interactions between the substrates and the grown materials in solution are quite different. Here, we report the successful epitaxy of single-domain ferroelectric oxide films on Nb-doped SrTiO single-crystal substrates by solution reaction at a low temperature of ~200 C.
