Multifunctional nanoparticles (NPs) with simultaneous multimodal therapeutic and imaging capabilities are very necessary for biomedical applications. We successfully prepared bowl-shaped gold@polydopamine yolk-shell NPs (bowl-shaped Au@PDA YNPs) by a novel and facile method. The unique bowl-like structure enables a drug loading rate of 92% (920 μg mg).

In China, the impact of waste disposal facilities is always a cause of concern for the government and the public. Laogang Municipal Waste Disposal Area (LMDA), Shanghai, one of the largest municipal waste disposal areas in the world was selected as case in this study, and it was attempted to analyze the changes in the surface water quality, and map the impacted area by LMDA on surrounding streams from its operation period of 1993-2017. The results showed that, during the whole period, only biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) showed a continuous improvement with a percentage of 85.

Current challenge of using cytokines is its poor distribution and systemic side effects. To avoid this issue, we prepared the tumor-targeted and microenvironment-responsive nanocarriers (TRN), which were consisted of α-tocopheryl succinate (α-TOS) loaded mesoporous silica nanoparticles as cores, and surface-modified by thioketal-linkage, electrostatically coated with carboxymethyl chitin, and further anchored glucose-regulated protein 78-binding peptide as shells for encapsulating IL-12. TRN showed a size of 260 nm after encapsulated IL-12 and α-TOS with loading content of 0.

A new nanosystem was prepared by coating ROS-cleavable thioketal (TK) bonded hollow mesoporous silica nanoparticles with carboxymethyl chitin via electrostatic interaction and further surface-anchored with glucose-regulated protein 78 binding peptide for targeted-delivery of doxorubicin (DOX) and α-tocopheryl succinate (α-TOS). The nanosystem (HMSN-TK-CMCH-GRP78P) showed an average size of 265 nm after loading DOX and α-TOS with a drug loading content of 4.06 % and 7.

Rotator cuff tear is a common disease that causes shoulder pain and limitation of activity. Rotator cuff repair with arthroscope has become the mainstream method with advance in surgical techniques. In spite of this, the highly rate of retear after surgery mainly because the tendon to bone interface form scar tissue rather than native tissue.

Aim: To investigate the regulatory effect of paclitaxel on proliferation and apoptosis in human acute leukemia HL-60 cells.

Methods: HL-60 cell growth was measured by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tertrazolium bromide (MTT) colorimetric assay. Cell cycle kinetics and apoptosis were analyzed by flow cytometry and microscopic examination.
