Article Synopsis
  • Human aging involves a slow decline in bodily functions and a higher risk of diseases, with the mechanisms behind this process still largely unknown.
  • Single-cell sequencing (SCS) technologies have transformed aging research by allowing for detailed studies of cellular diversity and dynamics, including areas like genomics and proteomics.
  • The review highlights how these technologies help identify aging biomarkers and cell subpopulations, as well as connecting aging to specific diseases, while also providing resources like aging-related databases to further our knowledge.

The treatment of diabetic foot ulcers remains a significant challenge, as their morbidity is increasing while current therapies are expensive and often ineffective. The dried mucus from the snail Achatina fulica promotes diabetic wound healing. Herein, to develop a more controllable and stable wound dressing for diabetic wound treatment, the AFG/StarPEG hydrogel mimicking snail mucus was prepared by covalently coupling of sulfated glycosaminoglycan from A.

The physicochemical properties of the polysaccharides in Polygonatum kingianum, a Chinese medicinal herb used for both medicine and food, have not been fully studied. This study isolated three polysaccharides (PKP-1, PKP-2, and PKP-3) from the dry rhizomes of P. kingianum, with an average molecular weight of approximately 3137 Da, 5341 Da and 3755 Da, respectively.

Ten lignans, including six previously undescribed phenolic ester glycosyl lignans (1-6), were isolated from a well-known traditional Chinese medicine, Qin-Jiao, which is the dry root of Gentiana macrophylla Pall. (Gentianaceae). Their structures were determined by spectroscopic and chemical methods, especially 2D NMR techniques.

Six pairs of enantiomeric phthalide dimers (1-6) were isolated from the rhizomes of Ligusticum chuanxiong. Their structures and absolute configurations were elucidated by NMR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction analyses, and electronic circular dichroism calculations. Compounds (+)-1 and (-)-1 are new phthalide dimers, featuring two classes of monomeric units (a phthalide and an unusual 2,3-seco-phthalide) with an uncommon linkage (3,6'/8,3'a).

Lung cancer continues to be the world's leading cause of cancer death and the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has attracted much attention. The tubers of are regarded as "an excellent medicine for lung diseases" and as the first choice to treat several lung diseases. In this study, seventeen phenanthrene derivatives, including two new compounds ( and ), were isolated from the tubers of .
