Pomegranate peel-derived extracellular nanovesicles(PPENs) were isolated and purified by ultra-high speed centrifugation and sucrose density gradient centrifugation. Their morphology and structure were characterized. In vitro α-glucosidase inhibition assay and model test of insulin resistance(IR) in HepG2 cells showed that PPENs had good anti-diabetic activity.

In this research, 40, 70, and 95% ethanol were firstly applied to extract the polyphenols from PRA, the extraction yields, total phenolics, and total flavonoids content, free radical scavenging ability, α-glucosidase inhibition ability, and anti-glycation ability of extracts were evaluated spectroscopically. The oxidative damage protection, hypoglycemic activity, and alleviation on peripheral nerve damage were evaluated by HO-induced HepG2 cells and hyperglycemic zebrafish models.

Microbial electrochemical system (MES) has attracted ever-growing interest as a promising platform for renewable energy conversion and bioelectrochemical remediation. Shewanella species, the dissimilatory metal reduction model bacteria with versatile extracellular electron transfer (EET) strategies, are the well-received microorganisms in diverse MES devices for various practical applications as well as microbial EET mechanism investigation. Meanwhile, the available genomic information and the unceasing established gene-editing toolbox offer an unprecedented opportunity to boost the applications of Shewanella species in MES.

Objective: To investigate the effect of doxycycline, an antimicrobial antibiotic inhibiting type IV collagenase, on the development of pulmonary fibrosis induced by bleomycin (BLM) in mice.
Methods: Gelatin zymography assay was used to detect the secretion of 72,000 and 92,000 type IV collagenase in HT-1080 cells and the activity of these enzymes in vitro. Experimental pulmonary fibrosis was induced by intra-tracheal administration of BLM in anesthetized mice.
Aim: To study the mechanism of inhibition of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) related signal transduction by lidamycin in cancer cells.
Methods: MTT assay was used to determine the growth inhibitory effect of lidamycin (LDM) and adriamycin (ADR) in several cancer cell lines. The inhibition of bFGF bound to its receptor by LDM was measured with [125I]-bFGF binding assay.
Aim: Type IV collagenase including MMP-2 and -9 plays an important role in cancer cell invasion and metastasis and is an attractive target for mAb-directed therapy. The immunoreactivity of mAb 3G11, a mAb directed against type IV collagenase in human colorectal carcinomas, was studied by immuno-histochemical (IHC) staining. mAb 3G11 was conjugated to an antitumor antibiotic lidamycin (LDM).

Aim: To study the in vitro and in vivo antitumor effect of lidamycin (LDM) on hepatoma and the active moiety of its molecule.
Methods: MTT assay was used to determine the growth inhibition of human hepatoma BEL-7402 cells, SMMC-7721 cells and mouse hepatoma H22 cells. The in vivo therapeutic effects of lidamycin and mitomycin C were determined by transplantable hepatoma 22 (H22) in mice and human hepatoma BEL-7402 xenografts in athymic mice.
