Through the formation of covalent connections with hyaluronic acid (HA), the inter-α-trypsin inhibitor (IαI) family collaborates to preserve the stability of the extracellular matrix (ECM). The five distinct homologous heavy chains (ITIH) and one type of light chain make up the IαI family. ITIH alone or in combination with bikunin (BK) has been proven to have important impacts in a number of earlier investigations.

Peimine, a bioactive substance isolated from Chinese medicine Fritillaria, can potentially suppress pulmonary fibrosis (PF); however, its therapeutic mechanism remains unclear. Recent evidence suggests the participation of M2-type macrophages in the pathogenesis of PF. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of peimine on a bleomycin (BLM)-induced PF rat model and the underlying mechanism of this effect.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of comprehensive therapy based on Chinese medicine (CM) patterns on self-efficacy and satisfaction with its effectiveness in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Methods: A total of 216 patients were randomly divided into the trial group (n =108) and the control group (n=108) based on the stratified and block randomization design. Patients in the trial group were treated with conventional Western medicine combined with Bufei Jianpi Granules (), Bufei Yishen Granules (), and Yiqi Zishen Granules () according to the CM patterns respectively, and patients in the control group were treated with conventional Western medicine.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess the effectiveness and safety of ligustrazine injection in treating chronic pulmonary heart disease (CPHD) through randomized controlled trials (RCTs).
  • Researchers analyzed data from 34 RCTs with low quality, finding that ligustrazine injection combined with traditional medicine improved patients' clinical status and reduced pulmonary artery hypertension compared to conventional treatment alone.
  • Despite some positive outcomes, the study's methodological flaws highlight the need for higher quality research to confirm ligustrazine injection's potential benefits for CPHD.
