To investigate the inhibitory effects of various transition metal ions on nitrogen removal and their underlying mechanisms, the single and combined effects of Cu Ni and Zn on Heterotrophic nitrification-aerobic denitrification (HN-AD) bacteria Acinetobacter sp. TAC-1 were studied in a batch experiment system. The results revealed that increasing concentrations of Cu and Ni had a detrimental effect on the removal of ammonium nitrogen (NH-N) and total nitrogen (TN).
