Lorlatinib is an oral third-generation inhibitor of anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) with activity in advanced ALK-positive non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in both the first and subsequent line setting. Superior systemic and intracranial efficacy of lorlatinib over crizotinib, a first-generation ALK tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI), in treatment-naïve patients with advanced ALK-positive NSCLC was demonstrated by the phase 3 CROWN trial. Lorlatinib retains anti-tumor effect against single and some compound ALK resistance mutations after disease progression on first- and second-generation ALK TKIs.

Metagenome profiling research using next-generation sequencing (NGS), a technique widely used to analyze the diversity and composition of microorganisms living in the human body, especially the gastrointestinal tract, has been actively conducted, and there is a growing interest in the quantitative and diagnostic technology for specific microorganisms. According to recent trends, quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) is still a considerable technique in detecting and quantifying bacteria associated with the human oral and nasal cavities, due to the analytical cost and time burden of NGS technology. Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been the most important global issue since December 2019. Although the clinical course of COVID-19 is known to be milder in children than in adults, associated hospitalizations among children have increased since the emergence of contagious severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) variants and the achievement of a high vaccination rate in adults. Conventional dried droplet (DD) methods show poor reproducibility in matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry (MALDI-MS) due to the frequent induction of a heterogeneous sample distribution. Recently, a forced dried droplet (FDD) sample preparation method was introduced to form homogeneous samples; this method improves the reproducibility of MALDI-MS analysis and generates highly multiply charged ions compared to DD methods. The FDD method utilizes secondary nucleation to generate a homogeneous sample distribution by applying an external force such as fluid shear stress by stirring the sample using a micropipette tip.

A label-free biosensor is described based on the Raman spectroscopic signatures of monolayer graphene, which are modified in the compartment of cancer cells because of electron-phonon coupling in monolayer graphene. Specifically, the Raman spectra of electrostatically gated monolayer graphene on SiO/Si substrates, in the voltage range from 0 to 5 V, were studied in the absence and the presence of cancer cells. Density functional theory simulations afforded a correlation between cancer cells and the observed Raman spectra, through the regulation of the intensities of the G and 2D Raman vibrational modes with applied voltage.

Although there are concerns regarding children's health in immigration detention, there are little data regarding hospitalizations in this population. Using 2015-2018 Texas inpatient data, we identified 95 hospitalizations of children in detention and found that most (60%) were driven by infectious causes, and that 37% of these children were admitted to an intensive care unit (ICU) or intermediate ICU.

A simple, cost-effective system was developed for dopamine (DA) detection using green synthesized 1-6 ​nm honey-based carbon quantum dots (H-CQDs) exhibiting bluish green fluorescence. The H-CQDs exhibited emission at 445 ​nm, with a quantum yield of ∼44%. The H-CQDs were used as a probe for electron transfer based DA detection and changes in H-CQD color in the presence of DA.
