Some controversial reports have observed oxygen desaturation (defined as percutaneous oxygen saturation (SpO) < 90%) during electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). The purpose of this pilot study was to examine oxygenation states in eight patients during ECT. In addition to the usual hemodynamic monitors and pulse oximeter, the oxygen reserve index (ORi) was monitored using a pulse oximeter.

Her levels of angiotensin converting enzyme decreased significantly over 4 years and a mass lesion was detected near the lower part of her left main bronchus, and diagnosed as small cell lung cancer (SCLC). Treatment of the SCLC with a series of chemotherapeutic agents produced excellent results.
