Surgical treatment of a patient with Gorham-Stout disease of craniovertebral junction: case report and literature review.

The paper discusses a case of a 58-year-old male suffering from a destructive process affecting the cranial bone and craniovertebral junction. A pathological fracture of the axial vertebrae led to a progressing atlantoaxial dislocation combined with pain syndrome and orthopedic disturbances. After symptom assessment, he was diagnosed to have developed the Gorham-Stout disease (GSD), a rare syndrome accompanied by massive osteolysis.
