The impact of residual coherent phase error in a dual-polarization interferometric fiber optic gyroscope (IFOG) is investigated. In this report, biocompatible nanogels with multi cell-responsiveness (thermo-, pH- and reduction) were fabricated by in situ cross-linking of alginate (AG) using cystamine (Cys) as a cross-linker through an emulsion approach, in the presence of a thermosensitive polymer, poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM). The AG/PNIPAM nanogels exhibited an abrupt swelling upon temperature increase from 37 to 25 °C under physiological conditions (497 ± 258 nm at 29 °C and 147 ± 48 nm at 37 °C). The nanogels were easily taken up by cancer cells at high temperature, where temperature variation could induce toxicity against cancer cells.

Aim: To investigate the role of DNA methylation during erythrocyte production by human embryonic stem cells (hESCs).

Methods: We employed an erythroid differentiation model from hESCs, and then tracked the genome-wide DNA methylation maps and gene expression patterns through an Infinium HumanMethylation450K BeadChip and an Ilumina Human HT-12 v4 Expression Beadchip, respectively.

Results: A negative correlation between DNA methylation and gene expression was substantially enriched during the later differentiation stage and was present in both the promoter and the gene body.

Dual-polarization interferometric fiber optic gyroscope (IFOG) is a novel scheme in which the polarization nonreciprocal (PN) phase error of the two orthogonal polarizations can be optically compensated. In this work, we investigate the effective of PN phase error compensation under varying temperature. It is proved that, the thermally induced strain deforms the fiber, and results in perturbations on the birefringence and polarization cross coupling which degrades the IFOG's stability.

There are drastic changes that occur in the impaired regions after spinal cord injury (SCI), however, improvement of the detrimental pathological process after injury is limited in the mammalian adult, which is due a large part to the failure of local axons to grow. Non-muscle myosin II (NMII) has been proved having essential role in the regulation of cytoskeletal structure and genetic silencing NMII markedly accelerates axon growth in vitro. Our purpose is to explore the association between phosphorylated NMII expression and axonal regeneration after SCI in rats and determine whether gene silencing NMII can improve the locomotor function in rats with SCI.
