Background: The purpose of this study was to analysis the nostril symmetry and nasal stability following secondary rhinoplasty performed with either nasal septal cartilage implantation (G1) or simple alar cartilage suspension and internal fixation (G2) in patients with unilateral secondary cleft nasal deformity.
Methods: Nostril and alar symmetry were analyzed retrospectively in 13 consecutive patients in G1 and 17 in G2. Assessment of three indexes was first performed using photogrammetric measurements of photographs at pre-operation(T1), 7 days after repair (T2), and at least 6 months after repair (T3).

Background: To improve medical students' preclinical skills and enable them to quickly comprehend the procedure of posterior pharyngeal flap surgery, our teaching team developed a surgical simulator specifically for pharyngeal flap surgery.
Study Design: Thirteen undergraduate students and 8 first-year residents trained from March to May 2023 participated in simulated surgical training. Initially, multimedia were used to explain and demonstrate to them relevant anatomy, surgical principles, and procedural steps.
Deep cryogenic treatment (-196 °C, DCT) is an emerging application that can make significant changes to many materials. In this study, DCT was applied to Ti6Al4V (TC4) titanium alloy, and we delved into an examination of the impact on its microstructural morphologies and mechanical properties. It was observed that DCT has a significant effect on the grain refinement of the TC4 titanium alloy base material.

In order to improve microstructure uniformity and eliminate welding defects, a new process assisted with combination of heat and cryogenic treatment was applied in this study. The results showed that after solution treatment, the number and size of precipitates decreased and the uniformity of the microstructure improved.

Patients with this condition often undergo initial surgical treatment at an early age and achieve an acceptable outcome. However, their levels of satisfaction will decrease in later stages of life as facial growth and development will inevitably cause changes in long-term outcomes, especially in the nasolabial region.
