: The prevalence of patent foramen ovale (PFO) has been found to be increased in patients with cryptogenic stroke, suggesting an association between these two clinical settings. Insulin resistance is a risk factor for the occurrence of stroke. The triglyceride glucose (TyG) index is a biomarker that reflects the IR status of the body.

Background: A score based on age, creatinine level, and ejection fraction as well as hematocrit value and the presence of emergency surgery (ACEF-II) has been proposed to have predictive value for risk stratification in cardiac surgery. This study aimed to evaluate its utility in patients with non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction and unstable angina (NSTEMI-ACS) to predict 1-year major adverse cardiac events (MACE).

Methods: In all, 768 patients with NSTEMI-ACS were enrolled in the study.

Introduction: Chronic Hand Eczema (CHE) is an inflammatory skin disease that causes significant impact on health-related quality of life (HRQoL). The Hand Eczema Impact Scale (HEIS) is a new patient-reported outcome (PRO) measure designed to assess the impact of CHE on key domains of HRQoL. This study aimed to develop and evaluate content and psychometric validity of the HEIS.

Background: The Hand Eczema Severity Index (HECSI) is a Clinician-Reported Outcome measure of the severity of hand eczema (HE).

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the validity, reliability and ability to detect change of the HECSI, and the HECSI-75 and HECSI-90 as responder definitions.

Methods: Analyses were performed using data from a sample of n = 258 patients with Chronic Hand Eczema (CHE) from a Phase 2b, randomised, double-blind, vehicle-controlled trial of delgocitinib cream, pooled across treatment groups.

Objective: To investigate the relationship between craniocervical morphology and the presence and level of cervical facet joint degeneration (FJD).

Methods: A total of 108 consecutive female patients aged 45-55 years who had undergone neck + brain CT angiography were included in this retrospective sectional study. Only patients of a certain age and of the same gender were included in order to eliminate the differences that create a disposition to the development of spinal degeneration.

A need exists to better understand the relationships between COVID-19, coping behaviors, physical activity and stress, and COVID-19's impact on way of life. A cross-sectional study design was used to examine adult physical activity, hope, depression, anxiety, and coping status by gender during the COVID-19 pandemic, and to determine the impact of these variables on the coping process. The study also examined the effect of gender on the relation between physical activity and dependent variables.

Article Synopsis
  • - Healthcare workers have a high risk of developing hand eczema (HE) due to factors like wet work and allergens, with a lifetime prevalence of 33.4% based on a recent meta-analysis.
  • - The analysis included 18 studies published between 2000 and 2022, revealing a 1-year prevalence of 27.4% and a point prevalence of 13.5%, alongside a 15.4% prevalence of atopic dermatitis (AD) among these workers.
  • - Most cases of HE reported were mild, but the findings highlight the need for preventive measures in the healthcare field, while also stressing the importance of conducting more high-quality and standardized research in the future.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to validate hand eczema (HE) ICD-10 codes in the Danish National Patient Registry and assess patient characteristics, lifestyle factors, and medication use.
  • Nineteen HE ICD-10 codes were validated, showing high predictive values, while highlighting that HE patients tend to be middle-aged women with a history of atopy and smoking.
  • The research found that HE patients received nearly double the prescriptions for topical corticosteroids compared to the general population, emphasizing significant differences in treatment needs.

Aims: Conflicting clinical results are reported for the ATTUNE Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA). This randomized controlled trial (RCT) evaluated five-year follow-up results comparing cemented ATTUNE and PFC-Sigma cruciate retaining TKAs, analyzing component migration as measured by radiostereometric analysis (RSA), clinical outcomes, patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs), and radiological outcomes.

Methods: A total of 74 primary TKAs were included in this single-blind RCT.

We study the equilibrium and dynamic phase transition properties of a two-dimensional Ising model on a decorated triangular lattice under the influence of a time-dependent magnetic field composed of a periodic square wave part plus a time-independent bias term. Using Monte Carlo simulations with a standard Metropolis algorithm, we determine the equilibrium critical behavior in zero field. At a fixed temperature corresponding to the multidroplet regime, we locate the relaxation time and the dynamic critical half period at which a dynamic phase transition takes place between ferromagnetic and paramagnetic states.

This study investigated the application of black cumin meal (BCM) obtained from cold-pressing seeds in bread baking. The effect of BCM on bread rheological traits and its nutritional value were investigated. Zeleny sedimentation, falling number, Farinograph, and Extensograph values in flour mixed with BCM (2.

There has been considerable research into the understanding of the healthy skin microbiome. Similarly, there is also a considerable body of research into whether specific microbes contribute to skin disorders, with atopic dermatitis (AD) routinely linked to increased Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) colonisation.

Background: The oronasopharyngeal (ONP) sampling phase is critical in the diagnosis of infection during the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. In this study, the aim is to investigate the effect of the standardized operational team in the sampling unit on test results and repetitions.

Methods: Patients who applied to the Adult Pandemic Polyclinic between August 2020 and October 2021 and whose ONP samples were taken for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test were included in the study.

Article Synopsis
  • Turkish Super League teams lack information on external match loads, prompting a study to compare loads across different positions and in-season periods within a single team.
  • A longitudinal analysis involved 15 players over 29 matches, using the Sentio Sports Optical Tracking System to gather various performance metrics such as total distance and acceleration.
  • Results indicated that walking decreased mid-season, with significant differences in metrics based on player positions, revealing midfielders had higher performance values than defenders and forwards across several key measures.

Background: Coronary slow flow phenomenon (CSFP) is characterized by delay in the progression of contrast material in the coronary tree that is not accompanied by significant coronary artery narrowing. Pathophysiologic pathways underpinning CSFP still remain poorly understood.

Objectives: To evaluate the relationship between serum galectin-3 (GAL-3) and growth differentiation factor-15 (GDF-15) levels with CSFP.

Background: Hand eczema severity index (HECSI) is a widely used tool for assessment of hand eczema (HE) severity. Generally, HECSI has been used by health care providers, and a validation of the HECSI tool when used by patients is lacking.

Objectives: To evaluate the construct validity and reliability of HECSI as a tool for patients based on comparison to HECSI assessments by physicians.

Aim    Triglyceride glucose index (TyG index) is a surrogate marker for insulin resistance. No studies have evaluated the TyG index in patients with coronary slow flow phenomenon (CSFP). We investigated TyG index values in CSFP and evaluated whether it had a predictive value for the diagnosis of CSFP.

Prognostic information is important for the management of acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Our aim was to evaluate Synergy between PCI with Taxus and Cardiac Surgery (SYNTAX) score-II (SSII) for predicting contrast induced nephropathy (CIN) and one-year major adverse cardiac events (MACE) in ACS patients. Coronary angiographic recordings of 1304 ACS patients were retrospectively examined.
