Fast-track surgery has been widely implemented and allows such immediate extubation as in the operating room(OR). We retrospectively investigated the effect of routine ultra-fast-track(UFT) surgery extubating in the OR in patients undergoing cardiovascular operations. Among 333 consecutive patients, 224 (67.

Aortic valve replacement, ascending aorta replacement and coronary artery bypass grafting were performed in a 61-year-old woman with aortic stenosis, ascending aortic aneurysm, and angina pectoris. However, immediately after surgery, transient hypotension and pulmonary hypertension repeated every few beats.Transesophageal echocardiography revealed a stuck valve, and reimplantation was carried out.

Although four strains of bacteria isolated from sunki, a traditional Japanese, non-salted pickle, were initially identified as Lactobacillus delbrueckii, the molecular and phenotypic characteristics of the strains did not match those of any of the four recognized subspecies of L. delbrueckii. Together, the results of phenotypic characterization, DNA-DNA hybridizations (in which the relatedness values between the novel strains and type strains of the recognized subspecies of L.

Two Gram-stain-positive strains, YIT 12363(T) and YIT 12364(T), were isolated from human faeces. They were rod-shaped, non-motile, asporogenous, facultatively anaerobic and did not exhibit catalase activity. Comparative analyses of 16S rRNA, pheS and rpoA gene sequences demonstrated that the novel strains were members of the genus Lactobacillus.

Three Gram-stain-positive strains were isolated from fermented mustard and were rod-shaped, non-motile, asporogenous, facultatively anaerobic, homofermentative and did not exhibit catalase activity. Comparative analyses of 16S rRNA, pheS and rpoA gene sequences demonstrated that the novel strains were members of the genus Lactobacillus. On the basis of 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, the type strains of Lactobacillus crustorum (98.

A method using ion-pairing liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization (ESI)-mass spectrometry (MS) was developed for the simultaneous determination of 23 types of purine or pyrimidine nucleosides and nucleotides in dietary foods and beverages. Dihexylammonium acetate (DHAA) was used as an ion-pairing agent and an ultra performance liquid chromatography (UPLC) system with a reversed-phase column and a gradient program was employed for the separation of nucleosides and nucleotides. Positive-ion ESI-MS was applied for the detection of nucleosides, and negative-ion ESI-MS was used for nucleotides.

Three Gram-positive-staining strains isolated from fermented stinky tofu brine were rod-shaped, non-motile, asporogenous, facultatively anaerobic, heterofermentative and did not exhibit catalase activity. Comparative analyses of 16S rRNA, rpoA and pheS gene sequences demonstrated that the novel strains were members of the genus Lactobacillus. On the basis of 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity, the type strains of Lactobacillus collinoides (98.

Two novel micro-organisms, designated strains YIT 10443(T) and YIT 10738, were isolated from airag, a traditional fermented mare's milk from Mongolia. The two strains were Gram-positive-staining, non-motile, asporogenous, catalase-negative, facultatively anaerobic rods of various shapes. Comparative analyses of 16S rRNA and ClpC ATPase (clpC) gene sequences and the presence of fructose-6-phosphate phosphoketolase (F6PPK) demonstrated that the novel strains were members of the genus Bifidobacterium.

Thirty six Gram-positive, rod-shaped, non-spore-forming, non-motile bacterial strains were isolated from the non-salted pickle solution used in producing sunki products, a traditional Japanese pickle. The novel strains were discriminated and separated into four groups by amplified fragment length polymorphism profiling, and by analysis based on recA gene sequences. The strains were classified into four species groups belonging to the Lactobacillus buchneri species group, which consists of L.

Human parvovirus B19 is a clinically important pathogen in both children and adults. In adults, it frequently causes acute and chronic arthritis, which may be related to persistent infection. The effect of the capsid of human parvovirus B19 on monocytes, which are thought to be responsible for the first line of defense against parvoviral infection, is not well understood.

Archaeal 16S rDNA clones retrieved from paddy soil DNA were sequenced. Among 100 clones, 88 clones were assigned to methanogens and nine clones were assigned to crenarchaeota. However, three of the nine clones were phylogenetically far from the cultured crenarchaeota and closely related to marine planktonic archaea.
