Background: The salivary gland neoplasm of uncertain malignant potential (SUMP) category in the Milan System is diagnostically challenging. This study aims to validate a modified scheme for subcategorizing SUMP in a large multi-institutional cohort.
Methods: Retrospective review of salivary gland fine-needle aspirations (FNAs) from 10 institutions were classified based on the Milan System.
Background: The Milan System for Reporting Salivary Gland Cytopathology (MSRSGC) is a risk-stratification reporting system that was introduced in 2018. The objective of this multi-institutional study was to evaluate the utility of the MSRSGC in Japan.
Methods: In total, 1608 fine-needle aspiration samples with matching histologic diagnoses were retrieved from 12 large institutions in Japan.
Objective: The Milan System for Reporting Salivary Gland Cytopathology (MSRSGC) is a recently published evidence-based categorization system for salivary gland fine-needle aspiration (FNA). We applied MSRSGC to Japanese cases and evaluated its utility.
Study Design: A total of 480 FNA cases were reviewed.
