For the purpose of executing direct dynamic and statistical calculation of chemical reactions in solution, we proposed an optimum strategy using semiempirical molecular orbital (MO) method with neglect of diatomic differential overlap (NDDO) approximation with specific solution reaction parameters (SSRPs), that is, the NDDO-SSRP method. It has been further extended to develop the NDDO-MAIS-SSRP method, which is the NDDO-SSRP method reinforced with the method adopted for intermolecular studies (MAIS), to correct the description of the intermolecular core-core repulsion interaction energy. In this strategy, the empirical parameters of the semiempirical MO method are optimized individually for a target chemically reacting molecular system by reference to the ab initio MO calculation data for a lot of instantaneous geometries on the potential energy surface near the reaction path.

Primary cardiac malignant lymphoma is extremely rare and almost all patients die within weeks. Monoclonal CD20 antibody (rituximab) was administered to a patient with primary cardiac B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma expressing a CD20 molecule. The results suggest that rituximab may be a safe and effective new therapy for primary cardiac B-cell lymphoma.

Increased expression of mitochondrial respiratory enzymes in the brain of epilepsy-prone, naive EL mice.

The present studies demonstrate that expression of both type 5 and type 6 subunits of NADH dehydrogenase and the type 1 subunit of cytochrome oxidase is enhanced significantly in the brains of naive, epilepsy-prone EL mice. In contrast, no apparent change in expression occurred with type 1 and type 2 subunits of NADH dehydrogenase. When expression of type 5 and 6 subunits of NADH dehydrogenase was determined at 24 h after a single series of vestibular stimulation, significant down-regulation was detected.
