Off-label dosing of direct oral anticoagulants (DOAC) as a treatment for non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) is problematic. Here, we investigated the status of rivaroxaban and edoxaban dosing by monitoring plasma concentrations (PCs). We monitored drug PCs in 391 and 333 outpatients receiving rivaroxaban and edoxaban, respectively, for NVAF.

Very recently, we proposed that poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) dissolves in a long rectangular column conformation induced by the formation of a two-dimensional folding chain structure in an -methylpyrrolidone (NMP) solution based on the results obtained from static light scattering (SLS), small- to wide-angle X-ray scattering (S-WAXS), and viscometric experiments. Small- to wide-angle neutron scattering (S-WANS) experiments were able to provide clear decisive evidence for the presence of such a two-dimensional folding chain structure in a deuterated (d)NMP solution of PVDF samples with two different weight average molar masses ( ) of 100 and 1200 kg mol, even under dilute conditions at concentrations less than the overlapping concentrations due to the quite high neutron scattering contrast obtained by using (d)NMP as a solvent. An increase in from 100 to 1200 kg mol substantially increases the particle length and width from = 80 to 350 nm and = 5.

Article Synopsis
  • DYRK2 is a kinase that affects the degradation of TERT, a protein linked to cancer, and this study explored their expressions in breast cancer patients to predict recurrence.
  • The analysis involved 221 early breast cancer patients, and researchers used immunohistochemical methods to examine DYRK2 and TERT levels and their relationship to clinical outcomes.
  • Findings showed that DYRK2 positivity was linked to better disease-free survival, while TERT positivity indicated worse survival; combining both markers may help better classify breast cancer patients.

Article Synopsis
  • A 40-year-old woman had a right breast mass for a year, which grew larger, leading to a diagnosis of Stage ⅢC triple-negative breast cancer.
  • She received 4 courses of EC therapy followed by 7 courses of paclitaxel plus bevacizumab before being referred for surgical intervention.
  • After a successful right mastectomy and related surgeries, she experienced a good recovery and improved quality of life, indicating the effectiveness of the combined treatment approach for her condition.

Febrile neutropenia(FN)is an adverse event associated with chemotherapy. Because well-maintained dose intensity improves survival rate, suppression of FN is important. While the incidence of FN has been recognized to be higher with docetaxel/cyclophosphamide(TC)therapy, it is generally considered lower with doxorubicin/cyclophosphamide(AC)therapy, and primary prophylaxis with granulocyte-colony stimulating factor(G-CSF)is not recommended.

Purpose: Although various strategies have been reported, there are no defined criteria for cosmetic evaluation methods after breast-conserving surgery (BCS). Since Asians tend to have smaller breasts, indistinct inframammary folds, and conspicuous scars, differences in the cosmetic results are expected. So we examined two subjective methods and one objective method to determine the differences, and elements necessary for a cosmetic evaluation after BCS.

An abdominal advancement flap (AAF) is a flap that pulls the elevated abdominal skin up and creates the shape of the inferior portion of the breast by making a neo-inframammary fold. Seven patients underwent remodeling using an AAF or a method combining an AAF with other volume displacement techniques after partial mastectomy. The excision volume ranged from 15% to 35%.

Objectives: A computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) scheme for determining histological classifications of breast masses is expected to be useful for clinicians in making a differential diagnosis. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of using the CAD scheme on ultrasonographic images.

Methods: The database consisted of 390 breast ultrasonographic images with masses.

We introduce a method combining two oncoplastic techniques for breast-conserving reconstruction. The procedure is as follows: first, an extended glandular flap is made by undermining the breast from both the skin and the pectoralis fascia to the upper edge of the breast at the subclavicular area. After modeling the breast mound with the extended glandular flap, an inframammary adipofascial flap is made.

Structures of <111> low-angle tilt grain boundaries in yttria-stabilized cubic zirconia bicrystals were characterized by conventional transmission electron microscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy and high-angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscopy. It is found that the 0.4 and 4.

We report an electron-probe microanalysis of a hologram recorded in a silica-nanoparticle-dispersed photopolymer film. We used S and Si atoms as label elements to identify formed polymer and nanoparticle species, respectively. It is found that the periodic density distributions of S and Si atoms are out of phase with each other, indicating that those of the formed polymer and nanoparticles are out of phase each other.

Organic-inorganic hybrid zeolite materials containing an organic framework have been synthesized by partially superseding a lattice oxygen atom by a methylene group. The use of methylene-bridged organosilane as a silicon source gives zeolite materials containing an organic group as lattice (ZOL), with several zeolitic phases such as the MFI and the LTA structures. Through various characterization methods, the presence of methylene frameworks (Si-CH2-Si) that replace siloxane bonds (Si-O-Si) has been verified, although the Si-C bonds are partly cleaved to give rise to terminal methyl groups.
