Malignant giant cell tumor of bone (GCTB) is identified by the presence of multinucleated giant cells, with an aggressive behavior and a high risk of metastasis, which has not been genetically characterized in detail. H3 histone family member 3A () gene mutations are highly recurrent and specific in GCTB. The present study analyzed the clinical information and genomic sequencing data of eight cases of malignant GCTB (out of 384 bone sarcoma samples) using an anonymized genomic database.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the geographical differences in coronary artery disease (CAD) characteristics among patients from Japan and Brazil, focusing on those undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
  • Results show that Japanese patients had more significant functional stenoses and lower post-PCI flow ratios compared to Brazilian patients, indicating a disparity in CAD patterns between the two regions.
  • The findings suggest that assessing both pre-procedural physiological indices and the diffuseness of CAD can help identify patients who may benefit most from PCI, highlighting the importance of tailored treatment approaches.

  • Extended curettage is used to treat infiltrative bone tumors, but its effectiveness for bone tumor-induced osteomalacia was previously unclear.
  • This study analyzed 12 patients who underwent extended curettage, finding an 83% remission rate and overall positive clinical outcomes, with most patients able to walk without assistance after surgery.
  • The results suggest that extended curettage is a beneficial treatment option, especially for tumors located in challenging areas where complete removal could lead to complications.

A high score for controlling nutritional status (CONUT) due to poor nutritional status has been associated with adverse outcomes in patients with chronic heart failure. However, because little is known about the effect of CONUT score on mortality rates after transcatheter mitral valve repair, we evaluated nutrition screening tools for prognosis prediction in patients undergoing transcatheter mitral valve repair using the MitraClip system. We retrospectively analyzed 148 patients with severe mitral regurgitation (MR) who underwent MitraClip implantation between April 2018 and April 2021.

  • * Researchers analyzed data from 206 patients, focusing on indicators like the quantitative flow ratio (μQFR) and the pullback pressure gradient (PPG) to assess disease diffuseness and its relationship with PCI outcomes.
  • * Findings suggest that a diffuse CAD pattern before PCI is a significant predictor of poor immediate haemodynamic results, regardless of stent expansion quality, indicating the importance of assessing CAD patterns prior to intervention.
