Cancer situation in China: an analysis based on the global epidemiological data released in 2024.

Background: Cancer remains a major cause of mortality and a significant economic burden in China. Exploring the disparities in cancer patterns and control strategies between China and developed countries may offer valuable insights for policy formulation and enhance cancer management efforts. This study examined the incidence, mortality, and disability-adjusted life year (DALY) burden of cancer in China, and compared these metrics with those observed in the United States (US) and the United Kingdom (UK).

Gallbladder carcinoma (GBC) is a malignant hepatobiliary cancer characterized by an intricate tumor microenvironments (TME) and heterogeneity. Radiofrequency ablation vs. hepatectomy for liver metastases from gastrointestinal stromal tumors.

For patients with gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) and liver metastases, there is still debate about whether radiofrequency ablation (RFA) or hepatectomy is preferable. The present study aimed to compare the clinical outcomes of RFA with hepatectomy in patients with GISTs and liver metastases. The present retrospective study consisted of a cohort of 43 patients who had been diagnosed with liver metastases from GISTs between January 2010 and December 2022.

TRIM6: An Upregulated Biomarker with Prognostic Significance and Immune Correlations in Gliomas.

This study investigates the expression and prognostic value of TRIM6 in gliomas, the most prevalent primary brain and spinal cord tumors. Our results show that TRIM6 is predominantly overexpressed in glioma tissues and is associated with reduced overall survival, disease-specific survival, and progression-free interval. Furthermore, TRIM6 expression is correlated with WHO grade and primary treatment outcomes.

Albumin binding function is a novel biomarker for early liver damage and disease progression in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

Purpose: Indicators to assess early liver damage and disease progression in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) remain unsatisfactory. Albumin binding function has been reported to be an early indicator of liver damage in hepatitis and liver cirrhosis. However, its role in NAFLD patients is unknown.

Arsenite inhibits the function of CD133 CD13 liver cancer stem cells by reducing PML and Oct4 protein expression.

Cancer stem cells (CSCs) can form new tumors and contribute to post-operative recurrence and metastasis. We showed that CD133CD13 hepatocytes isolated from HuH7 cells and primary HCC cells display biochemical and functional characteristics typical of CSCs, suggesting that CD133CD13 hepatocytes in primary HCC tumors function as CSCs. We also found that arsenite treatment reduced the viability and stemness of CD133CD13 hepatocytes, enhanced the sensitivity of HuH7 cells to pirarubicin, and reduced the tumorigenicity of CD133CD13 hepatocytes xenografts in mice.
