Prenatal diagnosis of a true umbilical cord knot is challenging. However, prenatal diagnosis is clinically valuable because it allows preparation for fetal distress during labor. Here, we report a case of prenatal diagnosis of true umbilical cord knot, with a favorable delivery management.

Introduction: Relapsed and refractory B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (R/R-B-ALL) is linked to a significant relapse rate after allogeneic haematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT) in children, adolescents and young adults (CAYA). No standard treatment has been established to prevent relapse after allo-HCT for R/R-B-ALL, which is an unmet medical need. The administration of blinatumomab after allo-HCT is expected to enhance the antileukaemic effect on residual CD19-positive blasts by donor-derived CD3-positive T-cells.

Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) at the apical membrane takes up glucose into the cell. Glucose then flows across the cells and is transported to the interstitium via glucose transporter 2 (GLUT2) at the basolateral membrane.

Rabbits were fed a normal diet for 12 weeks (N group) or a diet containing high cholesterol (1%) for 4 weeks (S-HC group) and 12 weeks (L-HC group). Cholesterol deposition in the intima of coronary arteries was observed in the S-HC group, but the formation of an atherosclerotic plaque was not observed.

However, changes in corneal nerve excitations through the polymodal nociceptor "transient receptor potential vanilloid 1" (TRPV1) and the potential link between this receptor and symptoms of DED remain unclear. In this study, we examined the firing properties of corneal cold-sensitive nerves expressing TRPV1 and possible contributions of chronic tear deficiency to corneal nerve excitability by TRPV1 activation.

However, it is unclear how inflammation affects mGlu receptor-mediated nociceptive responses. We therefore investigated the effects of mGlu receptor agonists on pain-related behaviour during persistent inflammation and their underlying mechanisms.

Although beetroot contains various nutritional compounds, including inorganic nitrate, some of their physiological properties are not fully understood. In this study, we examined whether betanin, a beetroot component, has a regulatory effect on vascular tone.

There are two types of soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC), which is a cellular target of NO: NO-sensitive reduced form (the heme moiety with a ferrous iron) and NO-insensitive oxidized (the heme moiety with a ferric iron)/heme-free form. This study investigated the influence of cigarette smoking on NO-sensitive and NO-insensitive sGC-mediated vascular tone regulation in organ chamber experiments with isolated rat and human arteries.

The nitric oxide (NO) donor sodium nitroprusside (SNP)-induced relaxation was impaired by exposure to the thiol oxidant diamide in both the aorta and the pulmonary artery, whereas the soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC) stimulator BAY 41-2272- or the sGC activator BAY 60-2770-induced relaxation was not affected. The impairment by diamide of SNP-induced aortic and pulmonary arterial relaxation was completely restored by post-treatment with the thiol reductant dithiothreitol.

We recently demonstrated intracellular distribution of functional M1-muscarinic acetylcholine receptors (mAChRs) and neuronal uptake of acetylcholine (ACh) in the central nervous system. Here we examined whether endogenous ACh acts on intracellular M1-mAChRs following its uptake and causes cholinergic facilitation of hippocampal LTP.

Many researches have revealed that some TRPV1-positive neurons co-express the transient receptor potential ankyrin 1 (TRPA1) channel whose activities are closely modulated by TRPV1 channel. However, it is less investigated whether the activities of TRPV1 channel are modulated by the presence of TRPA1 channel in primary sensory neurons.

We report 2 patients with Stage III ALCL who relapsed 6-18 months after the end of ALCL99 chemotherapy.

We herein describe the case of a 15-year-old Japanese boy with inv(16) harboring a low-allelic burden internal tandem duplication of FLT3 (FLT3-ITD) and KIT mutations. Conventional chemotherapy eradicated a clone with a low-allelic burden FLT3-ITD mutation, although another clone with a KIT mutation occurred 17 months later.

A peripheral blood smear with an immunofluorescence analysis is the established method of diagnosing MYH9 disorders. We provided genetic counseling, as required, which included apprising the woman of the inheritance pattern, the importance of a genetic analysis, and the potential delivery risks for the patient and her offspring.

All patients received two and three subsequent courses of induction and consolidation chemotherapy respectively, consisting of all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA), cytarabine and anthracyclines, followed by maintenance therapy with ATRA. Notably, a single administration of anthracyclines was introduced in the second induction and all consolidation therapies to minimize total doses of anthracycline.

Although many LC-MS methods enabling the determination of sphingolipid molecular species have been reported, they do not cover a broad range of sphingolipid metabolites with expanding glycerophospholipids (GPLs) and diacylglycerol (DAG). In this study, we developed an approach for the comprehensive analysis of sphingolipids, GPLs and DAG molecular species in a biological sample, without alkaline hydrolysis.

The distinct t(16;21) AML subtype exhibits unique clinical and morphological features and is associated with poor prognosis and a high relapse rate; however, the underlying mechanism remains to be clarified. Recently, whole-genome sequencing revealed a large set of genetic alterations that may be relevant for the dynamic clonal evolution and relapse pathogenesis of AML.
