We use Faraday waves to measure interfacial tension σ between two immiscible fluids, with an interest in (ultra)low values of σ. The waves are excited by vertically oscillating the container in which the fluids reside. Using linear stability theory, we map out the accessible range of interfacial tensions.

Article Synopsis
  • Morindae Officinalis Radix (MOR) is a traditional supplement in southeastern China used for bone health and reproductive care, typically derived from 3-4 year old roots, with the xylem sometimes removed.
  • This study employed metabolomics and glycomics techniques to analyze the chemical properties of MOR at different ages (1-7 years) and from different tissues (xylem and cortex).
  • Findings revealed that the highest concentration of beneficial bioactive components occurs at 3-4 years, while the xylem has more potentially harmful substances and fewer beneficial components than the cortex, supporting the current practices of using younger roots without the xylem.
