Article Synopsis
  • Ado-trastuzumab emtansine (T-DM1) is used for treating HER2-positive breast cancer but has potential adverse events (AEs) that need careful evaluation.* -
  • A comprehensive study analyzed 3,699 patient reports from 2013 to 2022, identifying new bleeding-related AEs and highlighting bleeding in the digestive, respiratory, and nervous systems.* -
  • This analysis is the most thorough on T-DM1-induced hemorrhages, aiming to enhance understanding of these severe complications and guide future research.*

Background: The American Thyroid Association guidelines primarily recommend central neck dissection for papillary thyroid carcinoma with advanced primary tumors or clinically positive neck nodes. However, the appropriate extent of dissection remains unclear. We aimed to compare the rate of locoregional recurrence between unilateral and bilateral central neck dissection in invasive papillary thyroid carcinoma.

With the escalating utilization of plastic products, global attention has been increasingly drawn to environmental pollution and recycling challenges stemming from plastic waste. Against this backdrop, biodegradable plastics have emerged as viable alternatives owing to their sustainability and capacity for biodegradation. Polylactic acid (PLA) presently commands the largest market share among biodegradable plastics, finding extensive application in products such as thin films, medical materials, and biodegradable straws.

Background: Extrathyroid implantation or dissemination of thyroid tissue secondary to a thyroid procedure is rare. Most of these belonged to thyroid carcinoma with metastatic potential and uncommon for benign pathologies.

Methods: We report the case of a 31-year-old female who was identified to have multiple subcutaneous implantation of thyroid tissue 5 years after transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy vestibular approach.

The disorders of endometrial receptivity and ovulatory dysfunction are both significant causes of infertility in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). In this study, we investigated the expression profile and functional implications of circular RNAs (circRNAs) in the endometrial receptivity of PCOS-affected mice. Twenty-four female C57BL/6 mice were divided into PCOS and normal control groups.

Methyl glycolate (MG) is an important biodegradable PGA plastic monomer. Herein, a green approach to synthesize MG by methanolysis of glucose is proposed, in which the subcritical methanol and phenol/quinone redox system were combined to promote the reversible C-C cleavage and oxidation during the cascade reaction of glucose to MG.

Background: Although the transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy vestibular approach (TOETVA) has been proven to be a safe procedure for select patients, as it is a novel approach, all associated complications require adequate attention.

Methods: We presented a 49-year old woman who underwent TOETVA developed delayed tracheal rupture 1 week after surgery. An extensive search of literature was carried out using PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science for studies reporting tracheal injury following endoscopic thyroidectomy.

This meta-analysis evaluates whether near-infrared autofluorescence (NIRAF) imaging reduces the risk of hypocalcemia after total thyroidectomy. A systematic literature search in PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library for studies from June 2011 to January 2021 comparing total thyroidectomy with NIRAF and conventional surgery (naked eye). Six eligible studies involving 2180 patients were included.

Background: Although recent studies have revealed an association between the composition of the gut microbiota and obesity, whether specific gut microbiota cause obesity has not been determined.

Objectives: The aim of this study is to determine the causal relationship between specific gut microbiota and abdominal obesity. Based on genome-wide association study (GWAS) summary statistics, we performed a 2-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis to evaluate whether the gut microbiota affects abdominal obesity.

Biomass furfural-like compounds are chemicals that cannot be extracted from fossil materials, through which a large number of fine chemicals and fuel additives can be opened up, but one big efficiency problem during the transformation is the accumulation of oligomers. Here, we propose a novel and efficient Ru-Mo bimetallic catalyst for selective hydrogenation-rearrangement of furfural-like compounds. The result showed that an unprecedented rearrangement product selectivity of 89.

Using copper nitrate trihydrate as the copper source, TiO2@Cu-MOF nanocomposites were prepared by a one-step crystallization method, and the effect of the amount of TiO2 loaded on the adsorption of rhodamine B was studied. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy spectrometer (EDS), N adsorption-desorption (BET), and infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) were used to characterize the microstructure and surface properties of composite materials. The results show that the composite material not only has a good degradability for rhodamine B, the decolorization rate reaches 98.

Background: Endoscopic thyroidectomy is popular among patients with cosmetic requirements. However, when lateral neck dissection (LND) is required, endoscopic surgery may be challenging. Therefore, we introduced needle-assisted endoscopic technique to achieve endoscopic LND procedure and evaluated its safety and feasibility in the present study.

Cultured human skin fibroblasts were irradiated twice successively with the 1.5 J/cm(2) of 532-nm and 1,064-nm lasers, respectively. The mRNA of procollagen, matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs), heat-shock protein 70 (Hsp70), interleukin-6 (IL-6) and transforming growth factor beta (TGF-beta) were analyzed at 24 and 48 h post-irradiation by using RT-PCR.

Objective: To explore the effects of glucose concentration fluctuation on function of cultured bovine arterial endothelial cells and underlying mechanism.

Methods: The thoracic aorta of newborn calf was used for primary endothelial cells culture. Cells were divided into 3 groups and cultured for 48 h: control group (C, 5.
