Article Synopsis
  • Traditional titanium (Ti) alloy scaffolds have high elastic modulus, which can lead to implant loosening and increase the risk of second surgeries, while 3D-printed porous Ti alloys offer lighter weight and better biocompatibility.
  • A composite coating made of hydroxyapatite, chitosan, tannic acid, and copper ions was applied to enhance the stability of these scaffolds, aiming for better bone integration.
  • Tests showed that this composite coating improves antibacterial properties, cell compatibility, and promotes bone formation, indicating it could enhance the clinical use of titanium alloys for implants.

This study aimed to investigate the occurrence of dislocation and risk factors following primary total hip arthroplasty (THA). Retrospective analysis was done on the clinical data of 441patients with primary total hip arthroplasty who were admitted to our hospital between May 2018 and early December 2020. A total of 294 patients without posterior soft tissue repair were included as control group, and a total of 147 patients with repair of the short external rotator muscle and joint capsule were assigned to the repair group.

PITX3 is a transcription factor important for the differentiation and survival of midbrain dopaminergic neurons during the development. Recent reports suggest that single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) in the gene may be associated with Parkinson's disease (PD). To verify their findings and to determine the nature of the association in a subset of our PD patients we have analyzed two PITX3 SNPs (rs2281983 and rs4919621) in 265 PD patients and compared them with 210 age-matched healthy controls.
