Genetically modified crops have profound impacts on cost savings and environmental friendliness conferred by new traits, such as resistance to insects and herbicides. Selectable marker genes are essential for screening transformed cells, but they are undesirable in the final product due to the risks of horizontal gene transfer and extensive safety assessment requirements. Generating marker- and backbone-free lines can enhance the public acceptance of transgenic crops.

In this study, the corrosion-resistant Ti/Ti-W-O ceramic coatings are prepared by changing the concentration of additives, microarc oxidation voltage, pulse frequency, and time using titanium alloy (TC4) as the substrate and sodium tungstate (NaWO) as the main additive via the microarc oxidation (MAO) method. The optimum parameters were determined as follows: concentration of added salt (NaWO): 0.

Methods: A total of 24 Sprague Dawley rats were fed for 4 weeks with high-fat and high-sugar food and then injected with streptozotocin intraperitoneally for the establishment of the DCM model. In addition, 6 rats with normal diets were used as the control group.
Prim-O-glucosylcimifugin (POG) is a chromone derived primarily from Saposhnikovia divaricata (Turcz) Schischk and Cimicifuga simplex. Previous research has shown that POG possesses antibacterial, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anticonvulsant, antipyretic, and analgesic properties. However, the specific impact of POG on influenza-virus-induced pneumonia is not well understood.

Methods: We evaluated the model discrimination and calibration in the UK Biobank cohort comprising 199,429 women (733 incident EOCs) of European ancestry without previous cancer history. We predicted 10-year EOC risk incorporating data on questionnaire-based risk factors (QRFs), family history, a 36-SNP polygenic risk score and pathogenic variants (PV) in six EOC susceptibility genes (BRCA1, BRCA2, RAD51C, RAD51D, BRIP1 and PALB2).
Background: Lipids, as a fundamental cell component, play an regulating role in controlling the different cellular biological processes involved in viral infections. A notable feature of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is impaired lipid metabolism. The function of lipophagy-related genes in COVID-19 is unknown.

However, due to the complexity of sweat, the development of environmentally friendly green electronic products is of great significance to the construction of ecological civilization. This study utilized a simple combination of polystyrene sulfonate sodium (PSS) and filter paper (FP) to prepare cellulose materials coated with conductive polymers, developing an electrochemical sensor based on the modified materials.

Using genome-wide association datasets, we performed bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR) to investigate the potential causal relationship between 309 serum metabolites and acne vulgaris. We performed sensitivity analysis to evaluate the presence of heterogeneity and pleiotropy.

Traditional ristocetin-dependent functional assays lack sensitivity to multimer sizes. Recently, nanobodies targeting the autoinhibitory module and activating VWF were identified.

In this study, eight compounds of GHI in plasma, including N-acetyl-L-glutamine (NAG), chlorogenic acid (CGA), hydroxysafflor yellow A (HSYA), p-coumaric acid ( pCA), rutin, hyperoside, kaempferol-3-O-rutinoside, and kaempferol-3-O-glucoside, were quantified by LC-MS/MS. We discovered that the values of t, k, V, and CL were larger than those of t, k, V, and CL for all compounds.

In this work, the removal effect of a WFGD system on CPM and its organic pollutants from a coal-fired power plant was studied. By analyzing the organic components of the by-products emitted from the desulfurization tower, the migration characteristics of organic pollutants in gas, liquid, and solid phases, as well as the impact of desulfurization towers on organic pollutants in CPM, were discussed.

This study focuses on the impact of sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) involving dust mite drops, exploring the modulation of regulatory T cells (Treg) and their specific marker, BLIMP1, in the nasal mucosa.
Methods: Immune cells were isolated from nasal lavage fluid of patients with AR undergoing SLIT (n = 94).

Misinformation has posed significant threats to all aspects of people's lives. One of the most active areas of research in misinformation examines how individuals are misinformed. In this paper, we study how and to what extent agents are misinformed in an extended bounded confidence model, which consists of three parts: (i) online selective neighbors whose opinions differ from their own but not by more than a certain confidence level; (ii) offline neighbors, in a Watts-Strogatz small-world network, whom an agent has to communicate with even though their opinions are far different from their own; and (iii) a Bayesian analysis.

Methods: The PEEQ was translated from English to Chinese as according to the PRO translation guidelines. Structural validity and reliability of the questionnaire were examined by validated factor analysis and Cronbach's alpha coefficient analysis respectively.
Background: Numerous studies have suggested a correlation between gut microbiota and acne vulgaris; however, no specific causal link has been explored.
Materials And Methods: To investigate the possible causal relationship between gut microbiota and acne vulgaris, this study employed a large-scale genome-wide association study (GWAS) summary statistic. Initially, a two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis was utilized to identify the specific gut microflora responsible for acne vulgaris.

Oral diseases concern almost every individual and are a serious health risk to the population. The restorative treatment of tooth and jaw defects is an important means to achieve oral function and support the appearance of the contour. Based on the principle of "learning from the nature", Deng Xuliang's group of Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology has proposed a new concept of "microstructural biomimetic design and tissue adaptation of tooth/jaw materials" to address the worldwide problems of difficulty in treating dentine hypersensitivity, poor prognosis of restoration of tooth defects, and vertical bone augmentation of alveolar bone after tooth loss.

By considering dependencies and interactions between genes, TB methods usually perform better than non-TB methods in identifying pathways that include closely relevant or directly causative genes for a given phenotype. However, most TB methods may be limited by incomplete pathway data used as the reference network or by difficulties in selecting appropriate reference networks for different research topics.

Understanding virus-host interaction and underlying mechanisms is an important but largely unknown issue in fish virus studies. Here, using channel catfish ovary and fathead minnow cells as models for the study of innate immunity signaling, we found that NNV-encoded ProA activated interferon signaling via the retinoic acid-inducible gene I (RIG-I)-like receptor (RLR) pathway which was still suppressed by the infection of wild-type NNV.

However, since nurses themselves were involved in the closed-loop management in hospitals and unable to return home, there was also an increased likelihood of non-traditional work-family strategies emerging. To ascertain the extant and implications of this phenomenon, this cross-sectional study explores work-family management strategies among nurses during the COVID-19 lockdown and their association with nurses' individual health, family relationships, and job performance.

Background: Acne is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that affects the pilosebaceous follicle and is influenced by heredity, hormones, inflammation, and the environment. At present, the recognized pathogenesis mainly includes four categories: excessive sebum secretion, excessive proliferation, excessive keratinization of sebaceous glands in hair follicles, and inflammatory mechanisms. Previous studies have found that DNA methylation is closely related to some chronic inflammatory skin diseases, and there is evidence that DNA methylation is controlled by genetic factors, making us want to know the relationship between DNA methylation, genetic variation and acne.
