The ultrafast relaxation dynamics of furfural and 5-methylfurfural following excitation in the ultraviolet range is investigated using the femtosecond time-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy method. Specifically, the pump wavelength-dependent decay dynamics of electronically excited furfural and 5-methylfurfural is discussed on the basis of a detailed analysis of our measured time-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy spectra. Irradiation at all pump wavelengths prepares both furfural and 5-methylfurfural molecules with different vibrational levels in the first optically bright S (ππ*) state, the lifetime of which is measured to be at least hundreds of femtoseconds.

Background: Postoperative delirium (POD) significantly impacts patient outcomes after acute type A aortic dissection (ATAAD) surgeries. This study investigates the role of Neuronal Pentraxin 2 (NPTX2) as a potential biomarker for POD in ATAAD patients.

Methods: This secondary analysis involved ATAAD patients from a prospective observational study.

Objective: To explore the effects of music nursing as a complementary therapy on anxiety, fatigue, and quality of life in children with acute leukemia (AL).

Methods: This study included 150 children with AL admitted to our hospital from August 2021 to August 2023 and divided them into two groups based on treatment: the control (n = 76, received routine nursing) and observation (n = 74, received music nursing on the basis of routine nursing) groups. Comparison of groups was performed in terms of general information, anxiety, fatigue, and quality of life at admission (T0) and 1 month after admission (T1).

Tripterygium wilfordii genus preparations (TWGP) are widely used in traditional Chinese medicines for the treatment of autoimmune diseases and immune diseases with definite therapeutic effects but high toxicity. The aim of this study is to identify and compare chemical compounds in three types of commercial TWGP using UHPLC-QTOF-MS/MS and molecular networking (MN) technology. First, the mass fragmentation pathways of 10 compounds were investigated, which included two sesquiterpene alkaloids, four diterpenoids, and four triterpenoids.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: As a classical formula of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), Lingguizhugan Decoction (LGZGD) has been used for treating heart failure (HF) because it has an efficiency of yang-warming and fluid-dispersing. However, the pharmacodynamic material basis of LGZGD responsible for the therapeutic benefits is not well understood.

Aim Of The Study: The aim of this study was to elucidate the pharmacodynamic material basis of LGZGD by an integrated approach.

Objective: To explore the predictive effect of negative emotions such as anxiety and depression on the poor prognosis of coronary heart disease (CHD) patients with stent implantation and to seek the improvement of clinical intervention measures.

Methods: A total of 303 patients with CHD and PCI were recruited from February 2019 to April 2021. The risk factors of CHD such as anxiety and depression, age, sex, smoking and drinking, BMI, hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, and family history of CHD were collected.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Ling-Gui-Zhu-Gan Decoction (LGZGD) formula, derived from traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), has definitive clinical efficacy in the treatment of heart failure (HF) in China. However, little is known of the underlying mechanism of LGZGD.

Aim Of The Study: The aim of this work was to investigate the therapeutic mechanism of LGZGD on HF treatment based on an integration of the serum metabolomics and network analysis.

Herein, we discuss the study of solvation dynamics of lithium-succinonitrile (SN) plastic crystalline electrolytes by ultrafast vibrational spectroscopy. The infrared absorption spectra indicated that the CN stretch of the Li(+) bound and unbound succinonitrile molecules in a same solution have distinct vibrational frequencies (2276 cm(-1)vs. 2253 cm(-1)).

Isotopic effects on the formation and dissociation kinetics of hydrogen bonds are studied in real time with ultrafast chemical exchange spectroscopy. The dissociation time of hydrogen bond between phenol-OH and p-xylene (or mesitylene) is found to be identical to that between phenol-OD and p-xylene (or mesitylene) in the same solvents. The experimental results demonstrate that the isotope substitution (D for H) has negligible effects on the hydrogen bond kinetics.
