Behavior, attitude, perception, and knowledge regarding fertility preservation among Chinese pediatric oncologists: a survey in China.

Purpose: Clinical specialists are supposed to inform childhood cancer patients of infertility risk and conduct fertility preservation (FP). However, little is known about whether doctors in China are fully prepared. This study aimed to investigate behavior, attitude, perception, and knowledge regarding FP among pediatric oncological specialists in a nation wide survey, to set the stage for improvements in current clinical practice patterns.

Polyfluorene-poly(ethylene oxide) diblock copolymers: synthesis and electron transport behavior.

Under mild reaction conditions, we synthesized diblock copolymers of poly(9,9-dioctylfluorene)--poly(ethylene oxide) (PFO--PEO) end-capping poly(9,9-dioctylfluorene) (PFO) with poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) on one end. We investigated the thermal, optical, electrochemical and crystalline properties as well as electron transport performance of these polymers. Our results demonstrate that PFO--PEO diblock copolymers with short PEO chains ( = 1000 and 2000 g mol) exhibit higher electron mobilities compared to the PFO homopolymer and longer PEO chain ( = 4000 g mol) attached copolymers.

Synthesis and Electron Transporting Properties of Diblock Copolymers Consisting of Polyfluorene and Polystyrene.

Poly(9,9-di--octylfluorene) (PFO) is a promising material for polymer light-emitting diodes (PLEDs) due to its advantageous properties. To enhance its electron transporting capabilities, diblock polymers were synthesized by attaching polystyrene (PSt) chains of varying lengths to one end of the PFO molecule. In a comparative study with PFO homopolymer, the diblock polymers maintained similar thermal properties, absorption spectra, and photoluminescent stability, while exhibiting slightly deeper lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) levels and higher crystallinity.

Protocol to dissociate and isolate wide-diversity single cells by density gradient centrifugation from human hepatoblastoma tissue.

Single-cell transcriptome sequencing can characterize various cell types in human liver tissue and facilitate understanding of hepatoblastoma heterogeneity. Here, we present a protocol for isolating hepatocytes and immune cells from human hepatoblastoma samples with high viability. We describe steps for tissue processing, enzymatic digestion, Percoll density gradient separation, cell lysis, cell suspension quality control, and scRNA library construction.

ACLY-β-catenin axis modulates hepatoblastoma cell proliferation.

HB (hepatoblastoma) is most common in children with liver cancer and few options for treating HB. Thus, it is of great significance to investigate the regulatory mechanism of HB and/or identify new therapeutic targets for clinical treatment of HB. Here, we showed that ACLY (ATP citrate lyase), an important lipometabolic enzyme for de novo biosynthesis of fatty acids and steroids, has a higher expression in HB tissues than noncancerous tissues, and is required for HB cell proliferation.

Zygomaticomaxillary suture maturation evaluation in patients with and without cleft lip and palate.

Introduction: The zygomaticomaxillary suture (ZMS) maturation evaluation is a reliable method for predicting the optimal timing of maxillary protraction. The objective of this study was to compare age distribution patterns of ZMS maturation stages between cleft lip and palate (CLP) patients and non-cleft lip and palate (non-CLP) patients to aid our comprehension in choosing the optimal timing of maxillary protraction.

Sustained effects of one-time sewage sludge addition on rice yield and heavy metals accumulation in salt-affected mudflat soil.

High-yielding and sustainable production of rice in salt-affected mudflat is restricted by high soil salinity. Although sewage sludge can be used for mudflat amendment especially soil salt reduction, the possibility of potential heavy metal contamination in sludge-amended mudflat especially under paddy cultivation remains unclear, which hinders the further utilization of sewage sludge. In this study, a field experiment was conducted in a newly reclaimed mudflat to assess the sustained effects of one-time sludge input with different addition rates (0, 30, 60, 120, and 180 t ha) on soil salinity, rice yield, and potential metal contamination under paddy cultivation.

Propranolol for infantile hepatic hemangioendothelioma: Clinical evaluation of drug efficacy and safety using a single-center patient cohort.

Introduction And Objectives: Infantile hepatic hemangioendothelioma (IHHE) is a benign liver tumor, associated with hypothyroidism and vascular malformations along the skin, brain, digestive tract and other organs. Here, we determined a single-center patient cohort by evaluating the effectiveness and safety of propranolol and sirolimus for the treatment of IHHE.

Patients And Methods: We performed a monocentric and observational study, based on clinical data obtained from 20 cases of IHHE treated with oral propranolol and sirolimus at the Shanghai Children's Medical Center (SCMC), between December 2017 and April 2019.

Metabolomics study of the metabolic changes in hepatoblastoma cells in response to NTCP/SLC10A1 overexpression.

NTCP (SLC10A1) has been well recognized as a basolateral (sinusoidal) Na+-bile acid co-transporter that mediates the hepatic uptake of bile acids. However, little is known about the effects of NTCP (SLC10A1) on hepatoblastoma (HB) and its underlying metabolic mechanisms. In this study, we found that NTCP (SLC10A1) expression was downregulated in HB cells and tissues, and it was demonstrated that NTCP (SLC10A1) reduced cell viability, promoted cell cycle arrest and induced apoptosis of HB cells.
