To achieve the goal of "carbon peak and neutrality," the strict requirements for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions control in the agricultural sector were recommended in relevant plans for Beijing during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. Through collecting agricultural activity data and calculating and screening the emission factors, the amount and emission characteristics of agricultural GHG emissions in Beijing in 2020 were estimated and set as the baseline condition. On this basis, the GHG emissions in 2025 with optimized measurements implemented, which were selected in combination with the natural conditions and planting-breeding mode of Beijing, were set as the reduction condition.

The objective of this study was to synthesize lignin carboxyl betaine zwitterionic surfactants (LCBS) from alkali lignin through a three-step reaction involving epoxidation, amination, and quaternization. The synthesized LCBS were characterized using infrared spectroscopy (IR) and thermogravimetric (TG) analysis. To assess their potential for enhanced oil recovery (EOR), the physicochemical properties of the LCBS surfactants, such as surface tension, emulsification, temperature resistance, salt resistance, and interfacial properties, were evaluated using standard experimental methods for surfactants applied in oil displacement.

Objective To explore the effects of microRNA-155-5p (miR-155-5p) on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced neuroinflammatory damage of human SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells. Methods SH-SY5Y cells line was overexpressed miR-155-5p or transfected with negative control (miR-155-5p mimic group, mimic-NC group), down-expressed miR-155-5p or transfected with its negative control (miR-155-5p inhibitor group, inhibitor-NC group). The cells with successful transfection in the above groups were treated with LPS for 24 hours.

Ferroptosis is a newly discovered form of regulated cell death with distinct properties and recognizing functions involved in physical conditions or various diseases, including cancers. However, the relationship between gliomas and ferroptosis-related lncRNAs (FRLs) remains unclear. We collected a total of 1850 samples from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Genotype Tissue Expression (GTEX) databases, including 698 tumor and 1,152 normal samples.

Ammonia (NH) contributes several adverse impacts to the environment, especially the crucial role of PM precursors. In China, approximately 13.5% of the total NH emissions from agricultural activities are related to dairy cows farming.

To understand the characteristics of winter fine aerosol pollution in Beijing, we conducted continuous measurements of the atmospheric trace gas ammonia (NH), PM, and inorganic ions in PM at an urban site in Beijing from February 13 to March 17, 2015. The hourly average concentration of NH throughout the campaign was 15.4 ± 17.

This study investigated the performance of mature compost to mitigate gaseous emissions during kitchen waste composting. Cornstalk was mixed with kitchen waste at a ratio of 3:17 (wet weight) as the bulking agent. Mature compost (10% of raw composting materials on the wet weight basis) was mixed into or covered on the composting pile.

The formic acid catalyzed gas-phase reaction between H(2)O and SO(3) and its reverse reaction are respectively investigated by means of quantum chemical calculations at the CCSD(T)//B3LYP/cc-pv(T+d)z and CCSD(T)//MP2/aug-cc-pv(T+d)z levels of theory. Remarkably, the activation energy relative to the reactants for the reaction of H(2)O with SO(3) is lowered through formic acid catalysis from 15.97 kcal  mol(-1) to -15.

Under normal conditions, the regeneration of mouse beta cells is mainly dependent on their own duplication. Although there is evidence that pancreatic progenitor cells exist around duct, whether non-beta cells in the islet could also potentially contribute to beta cell regeneration in vivo is still controversial. Here, we developed a novel transgenic mouse model to study the pancreatic beta cell regeneration, which could specifically inhibit beta cell proliferation by overexpressing p21(cip) in beta cells via regulation of the Tet-on system.

The larvicidal activity and repellency of 5 plant essential oils--thyme oil, catnip oil, amyris oil, eucalyptus oil, and cinnamon oil--were tested against 3 mosquito species: Aedes albopictus, Ae. aegypti, and Culex pipiens pallens. Larvicidal activity of these essentials oils was evaluated in the laboratory against 4th instars of each of the 3 mosquito species, and amyris oil demonstrated the greatest inhibitory effect with LC50 values in 24 h of 58 microg/ml (LC90 = 72 microg/ml) for Ae.

In the present study a carboxylated styrene-divinylbenzene (St-DVB) polymeric sorbent (CSPS) was prepared for enhanced removal of p-chloroaniline from aqueous solution. A commercial styrene-divinylbenzene polymeric sorbent Amberlite XAD-4 was selected as the reference sorbent to evaluate the performance of CSPS. Characterization of CSPS was determined by infrared spectroscopy and pore size distribution.
