Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to discover new anticoagulant peptides from deep-sea organisms by using various computational methods and to evaluate their effectiveness against FXIa, an enzyme involved in blood clotting.
  • Researchers created a database of deep-sea peptides by analyzing the proteins of animals from extreme environments and identified two promising candidates, PRNIF and GNDRCL, which showed strong inhibitory effects on FXIa in lab tests.
  • Molecular simulations revealed that PRNIF works as a noncompetitive inhibitor with unique binding characteristics, potentially leading to the development of deep-sea peptides as natural alternatives for preventing blood clots.

Aim: To clarify dynamic changes of IgG subtypes of thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPOAb) during the first postpartum year in Chinese patients diagnosed with postpartum thyroiditis (PPT).

Methods: We retrospectively collected serum samples before and 3, 6, 9 and 12 months postpartum from 58 PPT patients. Levels of TPOAb and its IgG subtypes were examined by ELISA.

The lymphocyte subsets and the percentages of activated T cells or regulatory T cells were observed during the course of postpartum thyroiditis (PPT). Heparin anticoagulant vein bloods were collected at 3, 6, 9 and 12 months postpartum consequently from 27 PPT patients and 23 normal postpartum subjects. Lymphocyte surface antigen CD3, CD4, CD8, HLA-DR and CD25 were stained in appropriate combination and detected with fluorescence-activated cell sorter analysis.

Objective: To study the prevalence of thyroid diseases, as well as characteristics of the disease spectrum and thyroid autoimmunity in women at the end of pregnancy.

Methods: Six hundred and sixty-four pregnant women (pregnancy group) and 276 non-pregnant women (control group) were enrolled in the study. Serum thyrotropin (TSH), thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPOAb), free T(3) (FT(3)) and free T(4) (FT(4)) were measured by high-sensitive immunochemiluminescent assay, and urinary iodine was also examined at the end of pregnancy.

Objective: To investigate the dynamic changes of serum Th1 and Th2 cytokines in patients with postpartum thyroiditis (PPT) during the first postpartum year.

Methods: 21 patients diagnosed as clinical PPT and 11 healthy postpartum women were enrolled in the study. Blood samples were taken before delivery and every 3 months postpartum for testing serum IFNgamma, IL-2, IL-4 and IL-10, which were measured with ELISA method.
