Objectives: To describe the implementation of a workplace health promotion to address low levels of physical activity (PA).
Methods: Using the Exploration, Preparation, Implementation, Sustainment (EPIS) framework we implemented and evaluated a 10-week workplace step-count challenge to promote PA. All health system employees invited to participate.
Background: With an increasing demand for critical care expertise and limitations in intensivist availability, innovative staffing models, such as the utilization of advanced practice providers (APPs), have emerged.
Objectives: The purpose of the study was to compare patient outcomes between APP and housestaff teams in the cardiac intensive care unit (CICU).
Methods: This retrospective study, spanning March 2022 to July 2023, compares patient characteristics and outcomes between two CICU teams embedded in the same CICU at a large urban academic hospital: one staffed by housestaff and the other by APPs (80% physician assistants, 20% nurse practitioners) who each had approximately 1 to 2 years of experience in the CICU.
Objective: Patients with peripheral artery disease (PAD) undergo lower extremity revascularization (LER) for symptomatic relief or limb salvage. Despite LER, patients remain at increased risk of platelet-mediated complications, such as major adverse cardiac and limb events (MACLEs). Platelet activity is associated with cardiovascular events, yet little is known about the dynamic nature of platelet activity over time.

In this study, we investigate the association of platelet hyperreactivity and cardiovascular events, and introduce a tool, the Platelet Reactivity ExpreSsion Score (PRESS), which integrates platelet aggregation responses and RNA sequencing. Among patients with peripheral artery disease (PAD), those with a hyperreactive platelet response (>60% aggregation) to 0.

Objective: To assess in-hospital outcomes and unplanned readmissions following CA for VT compared to MT in patients with sarcoidosis.
Methods: Data was obtained from the Nationwide Readmissions Database between 2010 and 2019 to identify patients with sarcoidosis admitted for VT either undergoing CA or MT during elective and non-elective admission.
Background: In hemodynamically stable patients with acute pulmonary embolism (PE), the Composite Pulmonary Embolism Shock (CPES) score predicts normotensive shock. However, it is unknown if CPES predicts adverse clinical outcomes. The objective of this study was to determine whether the CPES score predicts in-hospital mortality, resuscitated cardiac arrest, or hemodynamic deterioration.

This study aims to investigate how consumer ethnocentrism and perceived interactivity influence consumption value and pro-environmental value, subsequently affecting attitude and intention. A total of 353 valid questionnaires were collected through convenience sampling in Xuzhou, China, and the partial least square (PLS) path modelling approach was performed to test the hypotheses.

In this context, identifying risk factors for severe disease is important. We examined how race/ethnicity and immigration status influence IBD manifestations, treatments, and outcomes in a diverse, tertiary-care safety-net hospital.

Though HCV viremia is a known risk factor for accelerated atherosclerosis, data on cardiac allograft vasculopathy (CAV) outcomes are limited. We compared the incidence of CAV in heart transplant recipients from HCV viremic donors (nucleic acid amplification test positive; NAT+) compared to non-HCV infected donors (NAT-).

Little is known about the impact of such changes on cardiovascular risk, particularly in Asian American immigrant (AAI) women, who not only have a higher cardiovascular risk but also place greater cultural value on family and domestic responsibilities compared to other racial/ethnic groups. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of reallocating 30 minutes of each 24-hour activity component for another on BMI, waist circumference, and blood pressure in AAI women.

Objectives: We investigated psychosocial factors in women with myocardial infarction with nonobstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA) and those with MI and obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD).
Methods: Women with MI enrolled in a multicenter study and completed measures of perceived stress (Perceived Stress Scale-4) and depressive symptoms (Patient Health Questionnaire-2) at the time of MI (baseline) and 2 months later.
Background: Patients with COVID-19 have a higher risk of thrombosis and thromboembolism, but the underlying mechanism(s) remain to be fully elucidated. In patients with COVID-19, high lipoprotein(a) (Lp(a)) is positively associated with the risk of ischemic heart disease. Lp(a), composed of an apoB-containing particle and apolipoprotein(a) (apo(a)), inhibits the key fibrinolytic enzyme, tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA).

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to characterize outcomes after AMI in patients with MPNs compared with patients without MPNs.

Background: Asian Americans have the lowest colorectal cancer screening uptake of any racial and ethnic group in the United States. Asian Indians are among the most under-screened Asian American subgroups, but there is limited data for this population. We sought to characterize predictors of colonoscopy use among Asian Indians in New York City.

In the contemporary era, 5% to 10% of patients develop restenosis, and in the acute coronary syndrome cohort, there remains a 20% major adverse cardiovascular events rate at 3 years, half of which are culprit-lesion related. In patients at risk of restenosis, colchicine has been shown to reduce restenosis when started within 24 hours of PCI and continued for 6 months thereafter, compared with placebo.

The aim of this study is to examine the real-world concordance of observed PEff size between CT and TTE. We performed a retrospective analysis of all imaging reports available from 2013 to 2019 and identified patients with a PEff who underwent both a chest CT and TTE within a 24-hour period.

Background: In patients with tricuspid valve infective endocarditis, percutaneous debulking is a treatment option. However, the outcomes of this approach are less well known.
Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis of all patients who underwent percutaneous vegetation debulking for tricuspid valve infective endocarditis from August 2020 to November 2022 at a large academic tertiary care public hospital.
Background Psychological well-being is important among individuals with myocardial infarction (MI) given the clear links between stress, depression, and adverse cardiovascular outcomes. Stress and depressive disorders are more prevalent in women than men after MI. Resilience may protect against stress and depressive disorders after a traumatic event.

We aimed to compare the management and outcomes of patients with and without previous CABG who present with an NSTEMI. Patients hospitalized with an NSTEMI between 2002 and 2018 were identified from the National Inpatient Sample.

Background: Colorectal cancer screening uptake in the United States overall has increased, but racial/ethnic disparities persist and data on colonoscopy uptake by racial/ethnic subgroups are lacking. We sought to better characterize these trends and to identify predictors of colonoscopy uptake, particularly among Asian and Hispanic subgroups.
Study: We used data from the New York City Community Health Survey to generate estimates of up-to-date colonoscopy use in Asian and Hispanic subgroups across 6 time periods spanning 2003-2016.
