Background: The purpose of this study is to construct models for predicting platinum resistance in high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) derived from quantitative spatial heterogeneity indicators obtained from F-FDG PET/CT images.

Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on patients diagnosed with HGSOC. Quantitative indicators of spatial heterogeneity were generated using conventional features and Haralick texture features from both CT and PET images.

Pancreatic cancer (PC) is one of the most lethal malignancies and new therapeutic strategies are urgently needed. β1,3-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase V (B3GNT5) may be a potential option for cancer treatment, but its role in PC remains unknown. In this study, we first demonstrated through bioinformatics analysis that B3GNT5 was high expression in PC and predicted poor prognosis.

Article Synopsis
  • Lipid droplet accumulation is linked to pancreatic cancer progression and may contribute to resistance against the chemotherapy drug gemcitabine (GEM).
  • Inhibiting lipid droplet formation with triacsin C or silencing perilipin 2 made pancreatic cancer cells more sensitive to GEM, reducing their growth and invasiveness.
  • The enzyme LPCAT2, which is found in elevated levels in pancreatic cancer tissues, plays a crucial role in lipid droplet production and is regulated by STAT5B; both LPCAT2 and lipid droplet accumulation contribute to chemoresistance and cancer cell motility.

The quality of the perovskite active layer directly impacts the photovoltaic performance of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Unfortunately, perovskite films produced through solution methods often have a significant number of defects on their surface, which lead to a substantial degradation in the performance of devices. For this reason, a multifunctional additive 2-(trifluoromethyl) benzimidazole (TFMBI) is introduced into perovskite films.

Objective: Although cortical bone trajectory (CBT) screw fixation has been used for several years, the number of studies on its fusion effects is limited. Furthermore, several studies report conflicting outcomes. We aimed to compare the fusion rates and clinical efficacy of CBT screw fixation and pedicle screw (PS) fixation for L4-L5 interbody fusion.

Background: Circular RNAs (circRNAs) represent a class of newly identified transcripts that act as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) to modulate gene expression by competing for the shared microRNAs (miRNAs) in humans. In this study, we set out to investigate the role of the circRNA-miRNA-mRNA ceRNA network in gastric cancer (GC).

Methods: A differential analysis on GC-related circRNAs, miRNAs and mRNAs was performed utilizing the R language "limma" package, followed by GO and KEGG enrichment analyses.

Background: Mucinous gastric carcinoma (MGC) is a rare histological type of gastric carcinoma. Calcifications, seen on imaging and histopathological preparations, and which are infrequent in other types of gastric carcinoma, are characteristic of MGC. We present a patient with MGC with calcifications of the gastric wall and describe the computerized tomography (CT) features of the lesion and changes in the calcifications before and after chemotherapy.
