In recent years, a kind of novel cellular concrete, fabricated by spherical saturated superabsorbent polymers, was developed. A TBN-enabled tandem C-H bond oxidation/C-N bond cleavage/[3+2] cycloaddition of 1-nitromethyltetrahydroisoquinolines was realized, constructing a series of multifunctionalized isoxazole and isoxazoline skeletons in the presence of alkynes and alkenes, respectively. Various functional groups were smoothly tolerated, and the mechanistic study revealed that the construction of isoxazole and isoxazoline rings is mediated by the in situ generated nitrile oxides.

The general control non-repressible 5 (GCN5)-related N-acetyltransferase (GNAT) SbzI, in the biosynthesis of the sulfonamide antibiotic altemicidin, catalyzes the transfer of the 2-sulfamoylacetyl (2-SA) moiety onto 6-azatetrahydroindane dinucleotide. While most GNAT superfamily utilize acyl-coenzyme A (acyl-CoA) as substrates, SbzI recognizes a carrier-protein (CP)-tethered 2-SA substrate. Moreover, SbzI is the only naturally occurring enzyme that catalyzes the direct incorporation of sulfonamide, a valuable pharmacophore in medicinal chemistry.
