Gallbladder cancer (GBC) frequently mimics gallbladder benign lesions (GBBLs) in radiological images, leading to preoperative misdiagnoses. To address this challenge, we initiated a prospective, multicenter clinical trial (ChicCTR2100049249) and proposed a multimodal, non-invasive diagnostic model to distinguish GBC from GBBLs. A total of 301 patients diagnosed with gallbladder-occupying lesions (GBOLs) from 11 medical centers across 7 provinces in China were enrolled and divided into a discovery cohort and an independent external validation cohort.

This study introduces vibro-acoustic modeling for a double panel-acoustic cavity coupling system with in-plane functionally graded materials (FGMs). Based on the excellent ability of isogeometric analysis (IGA) to conduct high-precision engineering analysis and model complex geometric shapes, the IGA is adopted to model an acoustic structure coupling system that combines rectangular or elliptical panels with acoustic cavities. By applying the mixture rule, functionally graded panels are endowed with effective material properties that demonstrate functional variation along the in-plane direction.

Habitat fragmentation is causing the collapse of seed dispersal interactions and ecosystem functioning. When management and conservation strategies aim to sustain ecosystem functioning of fragmented forests, species' traits and functional performance are critical in guiding decisions. However, to date, we lack a quantitative understanding of the role of frugivores' body size and dispersal ability in ecosystem sustainability among fragmented forests.

Background: Given the risks associated with autologous bone transplantation and the limitations of allogeneic bone transplantation, scaffolds in bone tissue engineering that incorporate bioactive peptides are highly recommended. Teriparatide (TPTD) plays a significant role in bone defect repair, although achieving controlled release of TPTD within a bone tissue engineering scaffold remains challenging. This work reports a new approach for treatment of teriparatide using a water-in-oil-in-water (w/o/w) microspheres be equipped on gelatin (GEL)/Poly lactic-glycolic acid (PLGA)/attapulgite (ATP) scaffold.

Due to the unique geographical features of large numbers, isolated by water and diverse formation histories, islands have become natural laboratories for ecological and evolutionary research. Islands have a high proportion of endemic species and disharmony in representing the species compared with that in the continent, which provides a good opportunity to explore the formation of island biodiversity. In this review, we focuse on island ecosystems and describes the progress of research in island biogeography in recent years from three aspects: formation, maintenance, and loss of island biodiversity.

In this study, low-temperature pyrolysis is applied to raw and chelated municipal solid waste incinerator fly ash to degrade and remove PCDD/F (polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins, and dibenzofurans) and corresponding I-TEQs (international toxic equivalents), respectively. Additionally, PCDD/F degradation pathways are identified based on PCDD/F signatures. From the analysis of the average signal intensity of dioxin isomers in thermally treated fly ashes, the PCDD/F degradation rate was between 89.

Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) represents a promising avenue for DNA detection as it offers intrinsic chemical insights with high sensitivity compared to conventional methods. However, label-free and quantitative detection of unmodified DNA by SERS remains a major challenge in DNA analysis. To overcome this challenge, we propose a positively charged plasmonic nanosurface for DNA capture and quantitative analysis.
