Layered transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) have exhibited huge potential as anode materials for sodium-ion batteries. Most of them usually store sodium via an intercalation-conversion mechanism, but niobium sulfide (NbS) may be an exception. Herein, through in situ transmission electron microscopy, we carefully investigated the insertion behaviors of Na ions in NbS and directly visualized anisotropic sodiation kinetics.

Glycolate oxidase is a peroxisomal flavoprotein catalyzing the oxidation of glycolate to glyoxylate and plays crucial metabolic roles in green algae, plants, and animals. It could serve as a biocatalyst for enzymatic production of glyoxylate, a fine chemical with a wide variety of applications in perfumery, flavor, and the pharmaceutical and agrochemical industries. However, the low catalytic activity of native glycolate oxidase and low levels of active enzyme in heterologous expression limit its practical use in industrial biocatalysis.

Surface-deposited sediment in urban area is an essential environmental medium for assessing heavy metal contamination. A total of 10 sampling trips were conducted to collect road-deposited and roof-deposited sediments for the comparison of nickel (Ni), copper (Cu), cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), zinc (Zn), and chromium (Cr) contamination characteristics. Results indicated that roof sediment appeared to have a finer size distribution than road sediments.
