Article Synopsis
  • Ultrasound-activated sonodynamic therapy (SDT) is a cool way to fight tumors and is safe because it doesn't hurt the body too much, but it doesn’t always work well because cancer cells have tricks to resist it.
  • Scientists created special platelet "pharmacytes" that can help make this therapy better by blocking certain cancer cell helpers and using sound waves to release medicine directly where it’s needed.
  • When the sound waves activate the platelets at the tumor, it causes changes that help stop blood flow to the tumor and make it easier to kill the cancer cells.

Wear particle-induced aseptic loosening is the most common complication of total joint arthroplasty (TJA). Excessive osteoclast formation and bone resorptive activation have been considered to be responsible for extensive bone destruction and prosthesis failure. Therefore, identification of anti-osteoclastogenesis agents is a potential therapy strategy for the treatment of aseptic loosening and other osteoclast-related osteolysis diseases.
