Lactate is a key metabolite in cellular respiration, and elevated levels usually indicate tissue hypoxia or metabolic dysregulation. The real-time detection of lactate levels is particularly important in situations such as exercise, shock, severe trauma, and tissue injury. Conventional lactate assays are insufficient to address today's complex and variable testing environments, and thus, there is an urgent need for highly sensitive biosensors.

COVID-19, caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, poses significant health challenges worldwide, particularly due to severe immune-related complications. Understanding the molecular mechanisms and identifying key immune-related genes (IRGs) involved in COVID-19 pathogenesis is critical for developing effective prevention and treatment strategies. This study employed computational tools to analyze biological data (bioinformatics) and a method for inferring causal relationships based on genetic variations, known as Mendelian randomization (MR), to explore the roles of IRGs in COVID-19.

The double perovskite material CsAgBiBr, characterized by high stability, low toxicity, and excellent optoelectronic properties, has emerged as a promising alternative to lead-based halide perovskites in photovoltaic applications. However, its photovoltaic conversion efficiency after integration into solar cell devices is less than 3%, significantly lower than that of traditional perovskite solar cells. While alloying methods have been widely applied in the design of photovoltaic materials, their specific role in modulating the lifetime of photo-generated charge carriers in double-perovskite solar cells remains inadequately explored.

Background: Cholangiocarcinoma is a kind of malignant tumor that originates in the epithelium of the biliary tract. Although there are several options for second-line treatment for patients without specific genetic mutations, the overall treatment efficacy is disappointing. Second-line treatment which is composed of liposomal irinotecan plus fluorouracil and leucovorin significantly improved the treatment efficacy for advanced biliary tract cancer and extended patient survival.

Sonoporation-based delivery has great promise for noninvasive drug and gene therapy. After short-term membrane resealing, the long-term function recovery of sonoporated cells affects the efficiency and biosafety of sonoporation-based delivery. It is necessary to identify the key early biological signals that influence cell fate and to develop strategies for manipulating the long-term fates of sonoporated cells.

Background: The intricate pathophysiological mechanisms of major depressive disorder (MDD) necessitate the development of comprehensive early indicators that reflect the complex interplay of emotional, physical, and cognitive factors. Despite its potential to fulfill these criteria, interoception remains underexplored in MDD. This study aimed to evaluate the potential of interoception in transforming MDD's clinical practices by examining interoception deficits across various MDD stages and analyzing their complex associations with the spectrum of depressive symptoms.

Objectives: Vaccination and the emergence of the highly transmissible Omicron variant changed the fate of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is very challenging to estimate the number of lives saved by vaccination given the multiple doses of vaccination, the time-varying nature of transmissibility, the waning of immunity, and the presence of immune evasion.

Methods: We established a S-S-E-I-T-D-R model to simulate the number of lives saved by vaccination in six states in the United States (U.

Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a pregnancy-related metabolic disorder associated with short-term and long-term adverse health outcomes, but its pathogenesis has not been clearly elucidated. Investigations of the dynamic changes in metabolomic markers in different trimesters may reveal the underlying pathophysiology of GDM progression. Therefore, in the present study, we analysed the metabolic profiles of 75 women with GDM and 75 women with normal glucose tolerance throughout the three trimesters.
