We reported the wavelength-dependent quantum efficiency phenomenon for the PCET reactions between alcohol and BuArO˙ photocatalyzed by CdS or InO for the first time. The excess energy beyond the lowest excited state energy level from incident photons can be introduced into the heterogeneous reaction, resulting in a significant impact on the kinetic rate.

Evidence is accumulating that short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) produced by the gut microbiota play pivotal roles in host metabolism. They contribute to the metabolic regulation and energy homeostasis of the host not only by preserving intestinal health and serving as energy substrates but also by entering the systemic circulation as signaling molecules, affecting the gut-brain axis and neuroendocrine-immune network. This review critically summarizes the current knowledge regarding the effects of SCFAs in the fine-tuning of the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and insulin resistance, with an emphasis on the complex relationships among diet, microbiota-derived metabolites, T2DM inflammation, glucose metabolism, and the underlying mechanisms involved.

In the present review, we focused on recent translational and clinical discoveries in asthma immunology, facilitating phenotyping and stratified or personalized interventions for patients with this condition. The immune processes behind chronic inflammation in asthma exhibit marked heterogeneity, with diverse phenotypes defining discernible features and endotypes illuminating the underlying molecular mechanisms. In particular, two primary endotypes of asthma have been identified: "type 2-high," characterized by increased eosinophil levels in the airways and sputum of patients, and "type 2-low," distinguished by increased neutrophils or a pauci-granulocytic profile.

In eukaryotes, the origin recognition complex (ORC) faciliates the assembly of pre-replicative complex (pre-RC) at origin DNA for replication licensing. Here we show that the N-terminal intrinsically disordered region (IDR) of the yeast Orc2 subunit is crucial for this process. Removing a segment (residues 176-200) from Orc2-IDR or mutating a key isoleucine (194) significantly inhibits replication initiation across the genome.
