Ferroptosis is an iron-dependent regulated form of cell death implicated in various diseases, including cancers, with its progression influenced by iron-dependent peroxidation of phospholipids and dysregulation of the redox system. Whereas the extracellular matrix of tumors provides mechanical cues influencing tumor initiation and progression, its impact on ferroptosis and its mechanisms remains largely unexplored. In this study, we reveal that heightened mechanical tension sensitizes cells to ferroptosis, whereas decreased mechanics confers resistance.

The development of a novel multifunctional adsorbent for the sensitive detection and capture of antibiotic residues in environmental and food samples presents a significant challenge. In this study, we synthesized a pioneering nanocomposite, ILs@PC, by encapsulating task-specific ionic liquids (ILs) within nitrogen-doped porous carbon (PC) derived from metal-triazolate frameworks. This ILs@PC nanocomposite functions as a multifunctional adsorbent in dispersive solid-phase extraction (DSPE), enabling simultaneous sorptive removal, sensitive detection, and molecular sieve selection.

Purpose: The PD-1/PD-L1 pathway is one of the most effective immune checkpoint pathways utilized for cancer immunotherapy. Despite the success of anti-PD-1/PD-L1 mAbs, there is growing interest in developing low molecular weight anti-PD-1/PD-1 agents, such as peptides, because of their improved tumor penetration. We recently developed a small anti-PD-L1 peptide and demonstrated its promising anti-tumor activity.

This study proposes an innovative hydrogen storage capacity optimization configuration method that considers multiple demand factors, addressing the issue that traditional methods for optimizing hydrogen storage capacity in hybrid microgrids cannot simultaneously balance economic efficiency and grid connection quality. This method breaks through the traditional optimization framework and adopts a double-layer optimization model, combining the peak shaving operation cost of the hybrid microgrid with the interactive power deviation and power fluctuation penalty terms of the interconnection line during the frequency regulation stage, achieving dual optimization of economy and grid connection quality. Through precise mathematical modeling and efficient optimization algorithms, we have successfully obtained the minimum operating cost corresponding to the minimum power fluctuation, the minimum interconnection line interactive power deviation penalty term, and the optimal hydrogen storage capacity configuration scheme.

Muscular atrophy is among the systematic decline in organ functions in aging, while defective thermogenic fat functionality precedes these anomalies. The potential crosstalk between adipose tissue and muscle during aging is poorly understood. In this study, it is showed that UCP1 knockout (KO) mice characterized deteriorated brown adipose tissue (BAT) function in aging, yet their glucose homeostasis is sustained and energy expenditure is increased, possibly compensated by improved inguinal adipose tissue (iWAT) and muscle functionality compared to age-matched WT mice.

Rad6 is a canonical ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme known for its role in regulating chromosome-related cellular processes in yeast and has been proven to have multiple functions in , including insect-pathogenic lifestyle, UV damage repair, and conidiation. However, previous studies have only reported the key role of Rad6 in regulating conidial production in a nutrient-rich medium, without any deep mechanism analyses. In this study, we found that the disruption of Rad6 leads to a profound reduction in conidial production, irrespective of whether the fungus is cultivated in nutrient-rich or nutrient-poor environments.

Climate warming induces shifts from snow to rain in cold regions, altering snowpack dynamics with consequent impacts on streamflow that raise challenges to many aspects of ecosystem services. A straightforward conceptual model states that as the fraction of precipitation falling as snow (snowfall fraction) declines, less solid water is stored over the winter and both snowmelt and streamflow shift earlier in season. Yet the responses of streamflow patterns to shifts in snowfall fraction remain uncertain.
