Objective: Previous research suggests a correlation between nontoxic goitre and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). However, the causality was vulnerable to confounding variables. Therefore, there is an urgent need for a more rigorous research approach to examine the causal connection between nontoxic goitre and T2DM.

The short-lived African killifish is an attractive genetic model for vertebrate aging and regeneration studies. The utilization of genetically modified animals is a common strategy for unveiling molecular mechanisms responsible for a biological phenomenon. Here, we report a highly efficient protocol for generating transgenic African killifish using the Tol2 transposon system, which creates random insertions in the genome.
