Minimizing the energy loss, particularly the non-radiative energy loss (ΔE), without sacrificing the charge collection efficiency, is the key to further improve the photovoltaic performance of organic solar cells (OSCs). Herein, we proposed an asymmetric molecular design strategy, via developing alkyl/thienyl hybrid side chain based asymmetric small molecule acceptors (SMAs) BTP-C11-TBO and BTP-BO-TBO, to manipulate the intermolecular interactions to realize enhanced luminescence efficiency and reduced energy loss. Theoretical and experimental results indicate that compared to the three symmetric SMAs BTP-DC11, BTP-DTBO and BTP-DBO, the asymmetric SMAs BTP-C11-TBO and BTP-BO-TBO exhibit repressed electron-vibration coupling and reduced ΔE.

Developing active-layer systems with both high performance and mechanical robustness is a crucial step towards achieving future commercialization of flexible and stretchable organic solar cells (OSCs). Herein, we design and synthesize a series of acceptors BTA-C6, BTA-E3, BTA-E6, and BTA-E9, featuring the side chains of hexyl, and 3, 6, and 9 carbon-chain with ethyl ester end groups respectively. Benefiting from suitable phase separation and vertical phase distribution, the PM6:BTA-E3-based OSCs processed by o-xylene exhibit lower energy loss and improved charge transport characteristic and achieve a power conversion efficiency of 19.

Organic solar cells (OSCs) processed with non-halogenated solvents usually suffer from excessive self-aggregation of small molecule acceptors (SMAs), severe phase separation and higher energy loss (E), leading to reduced open-circuit voltage (V) and power conversion efficiency (PCE). Regulating the intermolecular interaction to disperse the aggregation and further improve the molecular packing order of SMAs would be an effective strategy to solve this problem. Here, we designed and synthesized two SMAs L8-PhF and L8-PhMe by introducing different substituents (fluorine for L8-PhF and methyl for L8-PhMe) on the phenyl end group of the inner side chains of L8-Ph, and investigated the effect of the substituents on the intermolecular interaction of SMAs, E and performance of OSCs processed with non-halogenated solvents.

The evaluation of toxicity and environmental behavior of bioactive lead molecules is helpful in providing theoretical support for the development of agrochemicals, in line with the sustainable development of the ecological environment. In previous work, some acethydrazide structures have been demonstrated to exhibit excellent and broad-spectrum fungicidal activity; however, its environmental compatibility needs to be further elucidated if it is to be identified as a potential fungicide. In this project, the toxicity of fungicidal acethydrazide lead compounds F51, F58, F72, and F75 to zebrafish was determined at 10 μg mL and 1 μg mL.

FV (finger vein) identification is a biometric identification technology that extracts the features of FV images for identity authentication. To address the limitations of CNN-based FV identification, particularly the challenge of small receptive fields and difficulty in capturing long-range dependencies, an FV identification method named Let-Net (large kernel and attention mechanism network) was introduced, which combines local and global information. Firstly, Let-Net employs large kernels to capture a broader spectrum of spatial contextual information, utilizing deep convolution in conjunction with residual connections to curtail the volume of model parameters.

Novel self-assembled dipeptide-gold nanoparticle (DP-AuNP) hybrid microspheres with a hollow structure have been prepared in aqueous solution by a simple one-step method. Diphenylalanine (FF) dipeptide was used as a precursor to form simultaneously peptide spheres and a reducing agent to reduce gold ions to gold nanoparticles in water at 60°C. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) revealed that formed AuNPs were localized both inside and on the surface of the dipeptide spheres.
