Background: Large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (LCNEC) of the bladder is a rare non-urothelial tumor of the bladder. The treatment of LCNEC of the bladder is different from that of urothelial carcinoma (UC); therefore, early and accurate diagnosis is particularly important. As LCNEC of the bladder is rare and its clinical symptoms and radiographic features are similar to those of urothelial tumors, the clinical diagnosis of the disease remains challenging.

Background: To compare the efficacy of secondary pyeloplasty and balloon dilation and to analyze the risk factors for secondary surgical failure in patients with recurrent uretero-pelvic junction obstruction (UPJO).
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 65 patients with recurrent UPJO who underwent secondary surgery between September 2011 and March 2019, of whom 33 had complete baseline data and follow-up data. General clinical information, perioperative data, and follow-up results were collected from patients.
Objective: Deep learning algorithms were used to develop a model for predicting the staging and grading of renal clear cell carcinoma to inform clinicians' treatment plans.
Methods: Clinical and pathological information was collected from 878 patients diagnosed with renal clear cell carcinoma in the Department of Urology, Peking University First Hospital. The patients were randomly assigned to the test set (n = 702) or the verification set (n = 176).
Paclitaxel-treated patients frequently experience chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) and mood changes, such as anxiety. Layer II/III of the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) is vital for generating pain and emotions. However, it is unclear whether glutamatergic neurons in layer II/III of the mPFC are involved in regulating paclitaxel-induced neuropathic pain and anxiety.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFPaclitaxel (PTX) is a commonly used antitumor drug. Approximately 80% of all patients receiving PTX chemotherapy develop chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN), limiting the use of PTX. Moreover, CIPN responds poorly to conventional analgesics.

It has been reported that necroptosis is associated with cognitive impairment in some neurodegenerative diseases, but it is not clear whether it is related to the development of chemo-brain.
Objective: To investigate the role of necroptosis and related changes in PTX-induced cognitive impairment.
Paclitaxel is widely used as a first-line chemotherapy agent to treat malignant tumors. However, paclitaxel causes peripheral nerve fiber damage and neuropathic pain in some patients. In addition, patients received paclitaxel chemotherapy are often accompanied by negative emotions such as anxiety.

It has been previously suggested that cytokeratins (CKs) are important diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for urothelial lesions. Hence it is imperative to understand the expression pattern of cytokeratins during formation of papillary bladder cancer, which was the objective of the current study. Expression pattern of CK14 and CK18 were examined using immunohistochemical staining in a mice model of papillary bladder cancer.

Objective: This study investigated changes in GABA receptor expression during paclitaxel-induced apoptosis of hippocampal neurons and the role of the p38MAPK/NF-κB pathway in this process.
Materials And Methods: Hippocampal neurons isolated from neonatal Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into six groups: Control (C), SB (10 µL of 10-µmol/L SB203580), SN (53 µg/mL SN50), N (1 µmol/L paclitaxel), SB + N (10 µmol/L SB203580 + 1 µmol/L paclitaxel) and SN + N (53 µg/mL SN50 + 1 µmol/L paclitaxel).
Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is an endogenous neurotransmitter that importantly regulates various physiological and pathological events including pain signal transduction. In this study, we investigated the role of spinal NMDA receptors in the nociception induced by intraplantar injection of NaHS, an H2S donor. Intraplantar injection of NaHS into hindpaw significantly decreased the paw withdrawal threshold (PWT) in contralateral hindpaw.
