Primary large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma of the bladder: A case report.

Background: Large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (LCNEC) of the bladder is a rare non-urothelial tumor of the bladder. The treatment of LCNEC of the bladder is different from that of urothelial carcinoma (UC); therefore, early and accurate diagnosis is particularly important. As LCNEC of the bladder is rare and its clinical symptoms and radiographic features are similar to those of urothelial tumors, the clinical diagnosis of the disease remains challenging.

Resveratrol Improves Paclitaxel-Induced Cognitive Impairment in Mice by Activating SIRT1/PGC-1α Pathway to Regulate Neuronal State and Microglia Cell Polarization.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effect of resveratrol (Res) on paclitaxel (PTX)-induced cognitive impairment and elucidate the underlying molecular mechanisms.

Methods: Morris Water Maze (MWM) test was used to evaluate the mice's spatial learning and memory abilities. Western blotting was applied to detect protein expression of receptor-interacting protein (RIP3), mixed lineage kinase domain-like protein (MLKL), silencing information regulator 2 related enzyme 1 (SIRT1), peroxisome proliferator activated receptor coactivator-1 (PGC-1α), NADPH oxidase 2 (NOX2), NOX4, postsynaptic density zone 95 (PSD95), arginase-1 (Arg-1) and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS).

Analysis of the efficacy and risk factors of surgical treatment of recurrent UPJO in adults.

Background: To compare the efficacy of secondary pyeloplasty and balloon dilation and to analyze the risk factors for secondary surgical failure in patients with recurrent uretero-pelvic junction obstruction (UPJO).

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 65 patients with recurrent UPJO who underwent secondary surgery between September 2011 and March 2019, of whom 33 had complete baseline data and follow-up data. General clinical information, perioperative data, and follow-up results were collected from patients.

Objective: Deep learning algorithms were used to develop a model for predicting the staging and grading of renal clear cell carcinoma to inform clinicians' treatment plans.

Methods: Clinical and pathological information was collected from 878 patients diagnosed with renal clear cell carcinoma in the Department of Urology, Peking University First Hospital. The patients were randomly assigned to the test set (n = 702) or the verification set (n = 176).

Materials And Methods: Hippocampal neurons isolated from neonatal Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into six groups: Control (C), SB (10 µL of 10-µmol/L SB203580), SN (53 µg/mL SN50), N (1 µmol/L paclitaxel), SB + N (10 µmol/L SB203580 + 1 µmol/L paclitaxel) and SN + N (53 µg/mL SN50 + 1 µmol/L paclitaxel).

Upregulation of spinal NMDA receptors mediates hydrogen sulfide-induced hyperalgesia.

Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is an endogenous neurotransmitter that importantly regulates various physiological and pathological events including pain signal transduction. In this study, we investigated the role of spinal NMDA receptors in the nociception induced by intraplantar injection of NaHS, an H2S donor. Intraplantar injection of NaHS into hindpaw significantly decreased the paw withdrawal threshold (PWT) in contralateral hindpaw.

Material And Methods: Hospitalized BPH patients who received TURP were divided into 4 groups by the presence and degrees of chronic inflammation: non-inflammatory BPH (NI BPH), mild-inflammatory BPH (MI BPH), moderate-inflammatory BPH (MOI BPH), and severe-inflammatory BPH (SI BPH).

Activation of spinal GABAB receptors normalizes N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor in diabetic neuropathy.

N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) activity is increased, while GABAB receptor is downregulated in the spinal cord dorsal horn in diabetic neuropathy. In this study, we determined the interaction of NMDARs and GABAB receptors in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic neuropathy. The paw withdrawal threshold (PWT) was significantly lower in STZ-treated rats than in vehicle-treated rats.

Distinct intrinsic and synaptic properties of pre-sympathetic and pre-parasympathetic output neurons in Barrington's nucleus.

Barrington's nucleus (BN), commonly known as the pontine micturition center, controls micturition and other visceral functions through projections to the spinal cord. In this study, we developed a rat brain slice preparation to determine the intrinsic and synaptic mechanisms regulating pre-sympathetic output (PSO) and pre-parasympathetic output (PPO) neurons in the BN using patch-clamp recordings. The PSO and PPO neurons were retrogradely labeled by injecting fluorescent tracers into the intermediolateral region of the spinal cord at T13-L1 and S1-S2 levels, respectively.

Downregulation of GABAB receptors in the spinal cord dorsal horn in diabetic neuropathy.

Diabetic neuropathic pain is a common clinical problem and remains difficult to treat with classic analgesics. Spinal dorsal horn neurons are important in mediating nociceptive signaling, and the hyperactivity of these neurons is critical in diabetic neuropathy. In this study, we determined the GABA(B) receptor expression level in dorsal horn neurons in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetes in rats by using reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and western blot analyses.
