Ultralong room-temperature phosphorescent (URTP) materials have garnered significant attention in anti-counterfeiting, optoelectronic displays, and bio-imaging due to their unique optical properties. However, most URTP materials exhibit weak emission or are quenched in aqueous solutions. This study proposes a simple and effective strategy for preparing full-color aqueous URTP materials using a one-step microwave method.

Article Synopsis
  • Ultralong room-temperature phosphorescent (URTP) materials are gaining interest for their unique optical properties useful in anti-counterfeiting, optoelectronic display, and bio-imaging applications.
  • The study introduces a new strategy that involves stiffening chromophores to reduce energy loss, enabling the development of blue phosphorescent materials with impressively long phosphorescence lifetimes, exceeding 3 seconds, and even reaching up to 5.44 seconds.
  • The research also showcases the ability to create multicolor phosphorescence (from cyan to green) and confirms that these materials maintain excellent optical properties in various mediums like urea and polyvinyl alcohol, proving functional for luminescent displays.
