Article Synopsis
  • The text discusses the growing interest in extracellular vesicles (EVs) for drug development, emphasizing the benefits of plant-derived EVs over animal-derived ones, such as cost-effectiveness and low immune response.
  • It highlights the need for more research in this area since current studies on plant-derived EVs are sparse and not well-organized.
  • The review aims to summarize key aspects like isolation methods and therapeutic potential while identifying challenges in developing these EVs and suggesting future research pathways.

Heterosis is a crucial factor in enhancing crop yield, particularly in sorghum (Sorghum bicolor ). This research utilised six sorghum restorer lines, six sorghum sterile lines, and 36 hybrid combinations created through the NCII incomplete double-row hybridisation method. We evaluated the performance of F1 generation hybrids for leaf photosynthesis-related parameters, carbon metabolism-related enzymes, and their correlation with yield traits during the flowering stage.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that is currently difficult to treat effectively. Both (BN) and ginseng-soluble dietary fiber (GSDF) are anti-inflammatory and helps sustain the intestinal barrier. In this study, the protective effects and mechanism of the combination of JLCC513 and ginseng-soluble dietary fiber (BG) in DSS-induced UC mice were investigated.

  • This study looked at how natto powder can help obese rats that were eating a high-fat diet.
  • The rats were given natto powder after 8 weeks on the diet, and it helped them lose weight and improved their cholesterol levels.
  • Natto powder also changed the types of bacteria in the rats' guts, promoting good bacteria and reducing bad ones.

Diels & Gilg, an herbal medicinal plant, is planted widely in bamboo forests in southern China to promote economic benefits. Volatile compounds (VOCs) of from different geographical regions are difficult to identify in field forests. In this study, VOCs from leaf samples of different geographical origins were analyzed using an electronic nose with 10 different sensors.

Article Synopsis
  • Quasi-2D perovskites are special materials that can glow in different colors, depending on their ingredients.
  • Scientists are using machine learning to better predict the energy of light they produce, making it easier to design new glowing materials.
  • They found that certain components in the material greatly affect how bright and what color the light is, and they can use this information to create better materials for blue light emissions.

Black rice and black bean have not yet been fully investigated as healthy foods for their therapeutic effects on type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). In this study, we aimed to evaluate the antidiabetic effects of black rice, black bean husk anthocyanin extracts, and their combination on glycolipid metabolism, gut microbiota, and serum metabolites in T2DM rats. Black bean husk and black rice anthocyanin extracts were administered to T2DM rats by gavage for 4 weeks.

Quasi-2D perovskites are potential materials for optoelectronics like light-emitting diodes (LEDs); compared to their 3D counterparts, they are considered more stable against the atmosphere and more efficient in exciton confining. However, the simultaneous formation of different phases in the quasi-2D perovskite film, , the phase impurity issue, lowers the device performance. We propose using a small molecule additive, trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate (TMPTA), to suppress the phase impurity by mixing it into the antisolvent.

Background/aims: Metastasis is the primary cause of colorectal cancer (CRC)-related death. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying metastasis in CRC remain unclear.

Methods: We evaluated mRNA and protein expression levels by quantitative real-time reverse transcription PCR, western blotting, immunofluorescence, tissue microarrays, and immunohistochemistry assays.

Rufy3 is a RUN domain-containing protein that has been associated with gastric cancers; however, the role of Rufy3 in the progression of colorectal cancer (CRC) remains unknown. We demonstrated that Rufy3 expression was higher in 11/12 fresh CRC tissues than in adjacent normal tissues. Rufy3 induced elevated expression and transactivity of four major oncogenes in CRC.

Article Synopsis
  • The "green gap" problem hinders the efficiency of LEDs in the 535-570 nm wavelength range, which is crucial for human visual perception and various applications.
  • Researchers developed a high-brightness InGaN LED using hybrid multi-quantum wells (MQWs) that achieves significant improvements, including a light output power of 2.14 mW and luminous efficiency of 19.58 lm/W at a dominant wavelength of 560 nm.
  • The hybrid MQW structure shows a 2.4-fold increase in light output at 540 nm compared to conventional LEDs, enabling better performance in the visible spectrum and potentially completing the product line of efficient LEDs.
