The main objective of this study is to evaluate the demographics, mechanism, and extent of injuries in patients admitted following rock-climbing-related injuries over a seven-year period. Method All patients admitted to the Department of Orthopedic Surgery between January 2017 and December 2023 with injuries related to rock-climbing accidents were recruited.

Surgical reconstruction of the medial collateral ligament (MCL) can be challenging during multi-ligament knee injury surgery due to the limited working space. There is risk of collision between the guide pin, pulling sutures, reamer, tunnel, implant, and graft of the different ligament reconstructions. In this Technical Note, we detail our senior author's technique for superficial MCL reconstruction using suture anchors and cruciate ligament reconstruction with all-inside techniques.

Polo-like kinase I (Plk1) is a highly conserved seronine/threonine kinase essential in meiosis and mitosis for spindle formation and cytokinesis. Here, through temporal application of Plk1 inhibitors, we identify a new role for Plk1 in the establishment of cortical polarity essential for highly asymmetric cell divisions of oocyte meiosis. Application of Plk1 inhibitors in late metaphase I abolishes pPlk1 from spindle poles and prevents the induction of actin polymerization at the cortex through inhibition of local recruitment of Cdc42 and Neuronal Wiskott-Aldrich Syndrome protein (N-WASP).

Introduction And Aims: Population level alcohol consumption has declined markedly in Australia in the past two decades, with distinct generational patterns. The underlying reason for this shift remains unclear and there has been little work assessing how attitudes and beliefs about alcohol have shifted in population sub-groups.

Design And Methods: Using seven waves of survey data spanning 19 years (2001-2019, n = 166,093 respondents aged 14 +), we assess age, time-period and birth cohort effects on trends in four measures of alcohol attitudes (disapproval of regular alcohol use, perceptions of safe drinking levels for men and women and perception that alcohol causes the most deaths of any drug in Australia).
