This study evaluated the synergistic effects of dietary butyrate-producing bacteria (Clostridium senegalense I5 (I5) and Paraclostridium benzoelyticum G5 (G5) and Gracilaria lemaneiformis-derived polysaccharide (GLP) in rabbitfish (Siganus canaliculatus). Both bacterial strains demonstrated high susceptibility to most antibiotics, salt tolerance up to 6.5 %, pH tolerance ranging from 2 to 10, and strong auto-aggregation abilities.

Background: The extent of skull base invasion (SBI) in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) directly impacts tumor staging, treatment strategies, and prognosis assessment for NPC patients, emphasizing the critical need for prompt diagnosis and precise assessment of invasion. Thus, we aimed to integrate the advantages of intravoxel incoherent motion diffusion-weighted imaging (IVIM-DWI) and conventional magnetic resonance imaging (cMRI), and assess their combined diagnostic efficacy versus that of F-sodium fluoride (F-NaF) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) for detecting SBI in NPC patients.

Ferroptosis, characterized by iron-dependent cell death, has recently emerged as a critical defense mechanism against microbial infections. The present study aims to investigate the involvement of exosomes in the induction of ferroptosis and the inhibition of bacterial infection in crustaceans. Our findings provide compelling evidence for the pivotal role of exosomes in the immune response of crustaceans, wherein they facilitate intracellular iron accumulation and activate the ferroptotic pathways.

In mammals, elongation of very long chain fatty acid protein 6 (ELOVL6), a key enzyme in long chain fatty acids elongation, has been reported to regulate other metabolism processes and immunity, including inflammation in vertebrates. Shrimp aquaculture has been seriously affected by acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (AHPND), caused by a strain of that carries the Pir toxin plasmids ( ). In this study, the transcription factor, Kruppel homolog 1-like of (Kr-h1), was significantly induced in shrimp hemocytes after challenge, suggesting that Kr-h1 is involved in shrimp immune response. Knockdown of Kr-h1 followed by challenge increased bacterial abundance in shrimp hemolymph coupled with high shrimp mortality.
