Background: Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) pose a major challenge to health economic cost and residents' health status. Community health workers (CHWs) are the gatekeeper of primary health care.

Objective: This study aimed to conduct a situational analysis of current human resource and requirements of NCDs-related training among CHWs in Chengdu with regard to address to understand the suggestions for improvement of challenges and barriers.

Background: Exercise has been recommended as a cornerstone for diabetes management. Supervised exercise is more efficient than unsupervised exercise but is less convenient and accessible.

Objective: We aimed to determine the efficiency of exercise using a fitness app and heart rate band to remotely monitor patients with type 2 diabetes in comparison with that of traditional exercise.

Objective: The experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of four fungal pretreatments on the nutritional value of Camellia seed residues, and to evaluate the feeding value of pre-treated Camellia seed residues for ruminants.

Methods: Camellia seed residues were firstly fermented by four lignin degrading fungi, namely, Phanerochaete chrysosporium (P. chrysosporium)-30942, Trichoderma koningiopsis (T.

Lung cancer is one of the most frequently occurring and fatal cancer types worldwide. Cisplatin is widely used for chemotherapy of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, the use of cisplatin has been met with the challenge of chemoresistance as a result of hypoxia, which is common in adult solid tumors and is a principal cause of a poor patient outcome.

The present study aimed to identify potential anticancer effects of Cucurbitacin I regulators on cell growth of human non‑small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and to explore their mechanism. The results indicated that the anticancer effects of Cucurbitacin I markedly attenuated cell proliferation, and induced apoptosis in NSCLC. Furthermore, Cucurbitacin I suppressed phosphatidylinositol‑4,5‑bisphosphate 3‑kinase (PI3K), phosphorylation (p)‑AKT and p‑p70S6K pathway in NSCLC.

Mitigation of the methane (CH) emission from ruminants is needed to decrease the environmental impact of ruminant animal production. Different plant materials and chemicals have been tested, but few are both effective and practical. Medicinal herbs contain biological compounds and antimicrobials that may be effective in lowering the CH production.

Monte-Carlo simulation of neutron coded imaging based on encoding aperture for Z-pinch of large field-of-view with 5 mm radius has been investigated, and then the coded image has been obtained. Reconstruction method of source image based on genetic algorithms (GA) has been established. "Residual watermark," which emerges unavoidably in reconstructed image, while the peak normalization is employed in GA fitness calculation because of its statistical fluctuation amplification, has been discovered and studied.

The objective of this study was to evaluate high-density lipoprotein (HDL) antioxidative activity and its possible influencing factors in patients with essential hypertension and to investigate the correlations between HDL antioxidative activity and the carotid arterial intima-media thickness (CIMT). Thirty-three patients with essential hypertension and 32 healthy people as control were included. High- and low-density lipoprotein in plasma were isolated by one-step density gradient ultracentrifugation, and induced oxidation with external Cu(2+).
