Excitation-emission matrix spectroscopy (EEMs) was applied to measure the fluorescence properties of dissolved organic matter (DOM) in seawater collected from Jiaozhou Bay in June, 2005. The study areas include central Bay area, receptor areas of Dagu River, Licun River and Haibo River. The aim was to investigate the influence of discharges from several typical rivers to the receiving seawater.

To develop a HPLC-DAD-ESI-TOF/MS analysis method for the determination of gentiopicroside and loganic acid in Radix gentianae samples and for the research of their fingerprints. The samples were extracted using ASE for 10 min under 100 degrees C and 9.65 MPa, and divided into water phase and chloroform phase and analyzed them with HPLC-DAD-ESI-TOF/MS method respectively.

The associated industrial and urban developments are located to a large extent along the Laizhou Bay, Bohai Sea coastal and raw sewage is often discharged into near shore waters with little treatment. To find out chemical characteristics and pollution source of the petroleum related contaminations in sediments near the major drainage outfalls located in the coastal, in this study, 10 surface sediment samples were collected during June. Sediment samples were extracted by organic solvents, separated by silica gel column chromatography and the concentrations and the profiles of n-alkane, biomarker and PAH in sediments were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass selective detector (GC-MSD).

An electroless plating method was applied to deposit Au onto the surfaces and the walls of pores of polycarbonate membranes to prepare gold nanotubules. The nanotubules were modified with cysteine (Cys) or with carbamidine thiocyante (Gua). The effects of modifiers and of the fine structure of organic molecules on the transport properties of those molecules through the gold nanotubules were investigated.
