Purpose: Osteoarthritis (OA) often coexists with risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD), worsening symptoms and functional impairment. This cross-sectional study investigated the association between Life's Essential 8 (LE8) and disability in individuals with OA.
Methods: Data from 8334 United States adults (aged ≥ 20) who participated in the 2005-2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) with complete data on LE8 components and disability status were analyzed.
Iron metabolism and leptin are interconnected, and both link with obesity. In this cross-sectional study, we hypothesized that serum iron markers associate with leptin, with body mass index (BMI) acting as a mediator, confounder, and effect modifier in this relationship. We analyzed data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey III, with a focus on serum iron markers and leptin.
