Traditionally, clinical reasoning is developed with purposeful exposure to clinical problems through case-based learning and clinical reasoning conferences that harvest a collaborative exchange of information in real-life settings. While virtual platforms have greatly expanded access to remote clinical learning, case-based clinical reasoning opportunities are scarce in low and middle income countries. The Clinical Problem Solvers (CPSolvers), a nonprofit organization focused on clinical reasoning education, launched Virtual Morning Report (VMR) during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) plays a critical role in promoting the proliferation and survival of tumor cells. As a ubiquitously-expressed transcription factor, STAT3 has commonly been considered an "undruggable" target for therapy; thus, much research has focused on targeting upstream pathways to reduce the expression or phosphorylation/activation of STAT3 in tumor cells. Recently, however, novel approaches have been developed to directly inhibit STAT3 in human cancers, in the hope of reducing the survival and proliferation of tumor cells.

Small ubiquitin-like modifier (SUMO) is commonly used as a protein fusion domain to facilitate expression and purification of recombinant proteins, and a SUMO-specific protease is then used to remove SUMO from these proteins. Although this protease is highly specific, its limited solubility and stability hamper its utility as an reagent. Here, we report improved SUMO protease enzymes obtained via two approaches.
