Methods: PDCD5 expression was determined by EnVision immunohistochemical staining in formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded specimens obtained from 12 subjects with NP, 22 with BPH, and 22 with PCa. In addition, PCa cases were classified as low/middle-risk (Gleason sum < or = 7) and high-risk (Gleason sum >7) on the basis of Gleason grade.
Objective: To investigate the cell-killing effect of adenovirus-mediated TK-ganciclovir (GCV) gene therapy in combination with tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) against murine bladder carcinoma cells in vitro.
Methods: Murine bladder carcinoma MB49 cells were transfected with the adenoviral vector containing TK gene and green fluorescent protein (GFP) gene. The transfection efficiency was observed and the TK gene expression in the transfected cells was detected by RT-PCR.

Objective: To study the role of programmed cell death 5 (PDCD5) protein in the oncogenesis and development of renal clear cell carcinoma and its association with the prognosis of the malignancy.
Methods: PDCD5 expression was assayed immunohistochemically in 46 cases of human renal clear cell carcinoma, and the patients' survival was followed up.
Results: PDCD5 staining in the adjacent normal tissue of the tumor was significantly stronger than that in the tumor tissue, and PDCD5 expression was significantly correlated with the tumor grade, stage and prognosis.

Objective: To explore the diagnostic approaches and values of the imaging modalities for traumatic renal injuries.
Methods: The clinical records of 74 cases of renal trauma treated in Nanfang Hospital were retrospectively reviewed to assess the diagnostic value of intravenous urography (IVU), type B ultrasonography and computed tomography (CT).
Results: The positivity rates by IVU, type B ultrasonography, and CT were 89% (43/49), 80% (55/68) and 100% (51/51) respectively for the diagnosis of renal trauma.
