5-Hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) is an inhibitory neurotransmitter widely distributed in mammalian tissues, exerting its effects through binding to various receptors. It plays a crucial role in the proliferation of granulosa cells (GCs) and the development of follicles in female animals, however, its effect on porcine follicle development is not clear. The aim of this study is to investigate the expression of 5-HT and its receptors in various parts of the pig ovary, as well as the effect of 5-HT on porcine follicular development by using ELISA, quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) and EdU assays.

Methods: Twenty spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRs) were used to develope a hypertension-induced cardiac damage model. Another 10 Wistar Kyoto (WKY) rats were used as normotension group.
Abscisic acid (ABA)-based chemically induced proximity (CIP) is primarily mediated by the interaction of the ABA receptor pyrabactin resistance 1-like 1 (PYL1) and the 2C-type protein phosphatase ABI1, which confers ABA-induced proximity to their fusion proteins, and offers precise temporal control of a wide array of biological processes. However, broad application of ABA-based CIP has been limited by ABA response intensity. In this study, we demonstrated that ABA-induced interaction between another ABA receptor pyrabactin resistance 1 (PYR1) and ABI1 exhibited higher ABA response intensity than that between PYL1 and ABI1 in HEK293T cells.

An animal model of cognitive impairment in T2DM was established using a single intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin (100 mg/kg) after 8 weeks of feeding a high-fat diet to C57BL/6 mice. In vitro, immunofluorescence staining and Western blot were employed to analyze the effects of PD on glucose-induced neurotoxicity in mouse hippocampal neuronal cells (HT22).

Objective: R6G-ddATP was used as a dideoxy fluorescence substrate to establish the single base end extension (SNaPShot)-gel fluorescence method for the rapid detection of the genotypes of three high-risk human papillomaviruses (HR-HPV) ( 18, 33 and 35) genotypes.
Methods: HPV quality control products were used as as samples, and R6G-ddATP dideoxy fluorescence reagent was used as substrate. Firstly, HPV was amplified by using universal primers to obtain the first round of amplified products, which were purified and used as templates for subsequent SNaPShot reactions.

Twenty-three common chromatography peaks were identified in the fatty-acid fingerprints of the seven fish roes. A total of 19 typical fatty acids were identified in the fish roes studied.

(1) Pregnant women who were positive for HBsAg and HBeAg and did not receive antiviral treatment during pregnancy were recruited from the First Hospital of Jilin University, Maternal and Child Health Care Center of Jiangsu and Henan from August 2009 to June 2015. Infants received active and passive immunity.

In this study, hyaluronic acid-modified amine-terminated fourth-generation polyamidoamine dendrimer nanoparticles were synthesized for systemic co-delivery of cisplatin and doxorubicin (HA@PAMAM-Pt-Dox). In vitro data showed that HA@PAMAM-Pt-Dox can enter the cells through the lysosome mediated-pathway in a time-dependent manner.

Mitochondrial ferritin (FtMt) is identified as an iron-storage protein located in the mitochondria, and its role in regulation of iron hemeostasis in neurodegenerative diseases has been reported. However, the role of FtMt in hydrogen peroxide (HO)-induced oxidative stress and iron accumulation in neuronal cells has not been studied.

In this study, we developed the quaternized chitosan microgels without chemical crosslinking as an adjuvant of H5N1 split vaccine. The microgels with pH-sensitivity, positive surface charge and good biocompatibility, have been demonstrated in favor of enhancing both humoral and cellular immune response. However, the detailed mechanism of the chitosan-based microgels to enhance antigen specific immune responses remains unclear.

Objective: To examine the prevalence of anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) fusion gene in Chinese patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
Methods: In this study, 95 patients with NSCLC and corresponding clinical information and formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue blocks were included. Hematoxylin & eosin (HE) staining, conventional ALK immunochemistry (IHC) staining and intercalated antibody-enhanced polymer (iAEP) IHC staining, and dual-color split fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) for ALK fusion gene were performed.
Objective: To observe the effect of moxibustion at "Ganshu" (BL18) on levels of Livin (a novel member of the inhibitors of apoptosis family and plays crucial roles in apoptosis, cell proliferation, and cell cycle control) in the liver tissue in rats with precancerous lesion of primary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), so as to explore its mechanism underlying improvement of HCC.
Methods: Sixty male Wistar rats were randomly divided into control group (n = 10), model group (n = 20), moxibustion-20 d group (n = 15) and moxibustion-40 d group (n = 15). HCC model was established by intraperitoneal injection of diethylnitrosamine (DEN, 50 mg/kg), once every 3 days for 12 weeks.
Aiming to enhance the immunogenicity of H5N1 split vaccine, the development of a novel antigen delivery system based on quaternized chitosan hydrogel microparticles (Gel MPs) with multiple mechanisms of immunity enhancement is attempted. Gel MPs based on ionic cross-linking are prepared in a simple and mild way. Gel MPs are superior as a vaccine delivery system due to their ability to: 1) enhance cellular uptake and endosomal escape of antigens in dendritic cells (DCs); 2) significantly activate DCs; 3) form an antigen depot and recruit immunity cells to improve antigen capture.
