The study investigated nurses' knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) regarding advance directives (ADs) for older patients in China, focusing on the influences before the country's first AD act.
A multicenter cross-sectional survey involving 950 nurses revealed strong support for ADs but highlighted a gap between their knowledge (42.2%), attitudes (81.9%), and actual practices (4.3%).
The findings suggest the need for improved training and institutional support for nurses to enhance their ability to implement advance directives and provide better end-of-life care aligned with patient preferences.
